Transmission Problem

I have a 2005 Toyota Tacoma 4X4 V6 with a 6 speed manual. Just recently my shifter started to pop out of 2nd gear and it grinds until you push the clutch back in or pull the shifter back. Its very random as to when it does it. Is my transmission going out or could it simply be a bad bushing in the shifter? Please help me. Its my daily driver so i need to fix it asap. Thanks

 

So your saying its slipping outta second? And if so is it going to 3 or 1?

 

Wondering if the shifter bushing is worn out ? a common problem on most higher mileage Tacos . Does the shifter feel tight going into 2nd gear ?
Whats the mileage on the truck ?
Does the trans grind shifting into first and reverse ?

 

Ive got 125,569 on it as of now. The shifter feels extremely loose when it is in a gear. You can wiggle the shifter atleast a quarter inch in any gear. The trans does not grind at all unless the shifter slips out of second.

 

Its a manual and it will slip halfway out of second gear and start grinding. But if you push the clutch in or pull it back or out it stops. I personally think its the bushings but i need someone else s opinion.

 

If the shifter feels sloppy in all the gears , i would suspect a worn shifter bushing ( the bushing is the ball on the end of the shifter where it fits into the transmission ).

 

Thats what i suspect it is too. Does anyone know where i can order a new bushing?

 

Are u in to a short throw shifter for the Taco ?
Just google it making sure it comes with the lower shifter bushing

 

Nah I don't really wanna spend the extra money to get a short throw shifter. I just need to find somewhere that I can buy the bushings. I can't seem to find any for the 2005 and up Tacomas
