Thanks, trimmed about 2.5" off the rears and 4.5" off the fronts. I trimmed both sets to be 13" off the ground with truck unloaded. I measured and marked them how long I wanted them to be from the ground while on the truck before removing them & cutting.

My wife over heard me talking about 2nd Gen mudflaps and just ordered me a full set from dealership...$404.00! What she really heard was that I took my 2nd Gen mudflaps off my new 2012 tacoma! I know she misunderstood, but....I think we should start a thread about who has a great wife! She cancelled the flaps and ordered me a new bugshield!!!! sweet :):):):D:):):)

I just cut mine with good fisher scissors. It took about 10 min after I got the pattern transferred. I did a little bit of edge sanding and done. I took about 30 min total.

Cut down my front mud flaps yesterday. Cut them down to about the same length as the rear ones. Used Fiskars shop boos scissors and it worked great.

i used a piece of coat hanger wire, bent an l on one end and a circle on the other to hold a sharpie.made it as long as i wanted to cut off and the bottom contour matched stock on all 4 and cut off the same amount.cut either the front or rear with scissors, and the other i scored deep with a box cutter and broke.left a clean edge no sanding recquired.

I had 2 of 4 flaps on my 06 Taco just rip off, OEM ones are crap and way too expensive. When I enquired about aftermarket ones, I was told he didnt know of any but when he checked, to his surprise, there were some.

Less than $100 for 4, they are shorter, look great and way cheaper. I cant remeber the brand right now but if others want to know, I will find out and post.

    nothing cool
I agree with using tin snips. Literally took me 5 min to measure, draw a straight line with my level, cut and sand. Took off 4 in. Posted a pic in TW Live ( not much to see). But just wanted people to leave the Dremmels in the case and bust out some snips.

edit: here's the pic... super easy

I can't believe people are paying so much for used dirty OEM ones on eBay.

I was gonna cut mine but now I'm gonna pull mine off and replace them with Husky Liners mud guards because it'll be free to do it.

I had them on my 05 and they're way better than stock, and cheaper.

I finally did this today after having my truck for two years, it looks much better. Tin snips worked great and sand paper cleaned up the edges nicely.

I trimmed 7 inches off all four mudflaps.
I used tin snips and lightly sanded with a soft sanding block afterwards. The fronts trimmed much easier than the rears for whatever reason. They definitely look better and give the illusion of more ground clearance to the whole truck.
