To Read/Write to NTFS partitions, use MacFuse and NTFS3G. I've been using it for over a year without problems on a dual boot hackintosh.

As far as office, iWork is OK, but the compatability is still a little strange. Free alternatives are OpenOffice and NeoOffice. While I do not advocate this, Office 2008 for Mac is available on TPB.

Downloading Programs/Movies/Music is as simple as using "Transmission" (App) and downloading from Torrent Sites such as TPB and Demonoid.

On the macbook, there is only one button, however the trackpad has multitouch functionality. You can tap with two fingers in place of a right click. I almost prefer this to a two button mouse. You can also use generic USB mice with it. The new models only come in White or Aluminum. However, you may be able to find a last generation Re-Furb for cheap in Black. I wouldn't advise this as they still used Intel GMA X3100 Graphics. All new MB's come with NVidia dedicated chips which are a hell of a lot faster.

You can also use BootCamp and dual boot Windows and OSX. Switching is a little daunting at first, but once you get used to it, the grass can be greener.

Regarding the shortcuts on a Mac....just search the web and you'll find pages on them.

The mouse does have a right click capability. But you can also click with both fingers.

And Rudbwoy...When I started my studio I was a PC guy. I'd be in the middle of a session and would have to reboot because they frooze up or something. Since I replaced them all with iMac's and macbook pro, I have NEVER had to reboot or have never had one crash on me.
I keep literally HUNDREDS of hours of recorded sessions on them. They still run as fast as the day they were brought home.

A lot of people look at just the price tag and think "Why would I spend that when I can spend less than half and get a pc?"
The Mac's CAN do a helluva lot more and continue to be more reliable than a PC. I'm still trying to figure out why we weren't taight to use a mac instead of a pc.

As a musician, I can lay down a lot of tracks on the iMac very easily and mix it just as easily. I use them because IMO it's a far superior product for what I use them for.

And as I've said before...my wife works for Apple so there's a little bit of a break in the price...but not much.

CTRL C, V, A all work the same. Just replae CTRL with Command.

Gestures are your mouse functions that operate differently depending on how many fingers are on the pad. Try youtube or apple for videos.

Expose is an app that allows you to see all your open windows at one time. Youtube or apple.

Spotlight (Command + SpaceBar) allows you to open apps or search for files on your mac. No more searching folders to find what you are looking for.

Like nd was, I am thinking about getting a Mac. I currently have a desktop PC which is used as the main hub for the house. Do I need to get a different router to hook up wireless connectivity or can I use the existing router?
