Been toying around with this idea as well since I did the solid motor mounts. Make sure you do a write up! :D

I will. Just need to decide if I am going to use the adjustable thermostat that came with it or just on ignition. I plan on having a switch on the dash so I can turn it off for water/mud crossings.

I would definitely do the thermostat. Cold starts where I live suck a fat one. I can't imagine Michigan being much better.

Michigan sucks also I just don't usually drive it anymore. I put under 1000 miles on the truck last year and not much more the year before.

I can't get the horror stories from buddies where the thermostat didn't work out of my head. I guess that was about 15 years ago and on jeeps but the thermostat setup looks pretty cheesy still.

Alright I'm done being stuborn. I'll do it the way I should and keep an eye on it.

Nice build! I really like your mid travel setup. I dont think you mentioned when you got your uniball UCA's though, did you drive the truck at all with just the stock ball joints?

I was on stock UCA's for years. I also ran them with the fabtech's for about a year before I got the fox's up front.

Ok thanks :) Also, how much lift did you run with the fabtech's?

I only ran the Fabtech's at about one inch. I know people always bash them but at that height they handled/felt great. They are on (Taco.VR4) another Michigan members truck now and I'm sure he would agree.

I plan on finishing up the fan tonight or tomorrow. In the meantime started getting the truck ready for the next mods.
That will require some major stereo rewire/cleanup. Over the years we have slapped equipment in and out and this is the resulting mess.

Plan on leaving most of the interior out and just spraying it with Lizard skin and Raptor Liner. Time to start removing all the tabs and crap that aren't needed anymore.

Any updates with the fans? been thinking of that myself. I also read a lot of bad reviews on the thermostats.

I really liked the benefit of the fan. I wired it up with a switch on ignition that then powers the thermostat. That allowed me to turn it off for water crossings. With the my motor mounts it is amazing how smooth the motor is off the clutch. There was increase of instant power from just the engine mounts.

The truck ran about the temp I want but I have the fan set to come on as early as possible and it barely runs. The thermocouple gets mounted in the fins behind the fan, so when the fan turns on it is blowing on the exposed part of thermocouple. I am planning on wiring an always on switch also so in some situations I can just switch off the Thermostat and turn it to always on.

Ok alittle info on the fan install.

First you have to remove this:
    2012-11-18_14-33-46_808_3810cbee737a4dffaa2cf88d4e101e0230ee16fe.jpg

You have to remove the 4 nuts that hold the fan and power steering pump pulley on. I recomend pulling the studs and replacing with a bolt. I didn't have any so I just used washers because the threads aren't down far enough on the stud.
    2012-11-18_16-18-09_676_20834c543118467eef9ec0e8bca9e21078fef8a3.jpg

Then you have to wire and mount the control box. I put it behind the battery because the thermocouple only reaces so far.
    2012-12-02_16-52-52_266_2390fad9e8786c746d9ae485228bda93884c230d.jpg

Then you mount the fan with the supplied tabs to the stock fan shroud mounts. I also used an ibot to run the wires thru and keep them out of harms way.
    2012-12-02_16-51-50_656_0c9d24cd0e052cff25eec44fc223464fe36ca820.jpg

I wanted a switch to be able to shut the fan off when needed. I wired the thermostat to ignition and thru a switch. I pulled the lighter and put the switch there.
    2012-12-02_16-51-05_851_9b114abab615010d405f7e075c00348c05ab1e3d.jpg

Its a pretty simple install so if you want more indepth info just ask.

There are a few things I want to change:
-I am going to wire an always on switch to give the flexability of thermostat/ off/ always on.
-The mounts are cheap aluminum bracket and I want to replace with something more substancial.
-The control box isn't water tight and needs to be mounted in the engine compartment. The circuit board is exposed where you conect to it.

Did you buy the universal kit or the one specifically for the tacoma?

This time I will try to keep up on pics. Probably wont see any real progress till after Christmas.

Since I don't have my truck at the house had to put together a few projects when I can't get to the shop.

Working on mount setup to put this setup in place of my 21S on the bumper.

    2012-12-22_10-10-55_451_ea463eb8f9a3e4a245d199fd789c0a96b742388f.jpg

Also going to start working on a mount system for the 21S. It will go where the tubes will come out of the cab so the light will normally be a backup light but can be rotated and be a front facing over the cab.
