.308 and .22lr bolt guns are a must in a SHTF scenario. Both provide food. One is for big game like hogs and deer one is for possums squirrels and turkeys.

But not as accurate and do you want to fumble with swapping BCGs when the attack comes?

Id still have another weapon with me as does he in ur situation. So i could grab the shotgun or hit a few .22 rounds into this "troublemaker"

I guess my shtf scenario id be doing alot of foot travel and would want to keep the load as light as possible. I like doing these scenarios, makes u understand your gear and.hopefully find ways of effectively and efficiently carry and use it.

So I am in the market for a new shotgun, uses will be home defense, plinking at the range, a little skeet shooting and 3 gun eventually. I was planning on a Benelli M2, but then I started looking at the Versa Max Tactical and now I'm thinking I may go that route. Any opinions?

Why not? I have plenty of guns for long range, like this FN PBR XP.

    FNH_zps5fa1b53b_eb70df5343551660b9112272db634d8e77da389b.jpg

My 300 BLK bolt gun is for shooting a heavy bullet (220 gr) very quietly. Perhaps you've not had the joy of shooting a gun like that where the gong ringing at 200 yds is louder than the shot.

Nice little Shotty. Definitely a Knoxx Collapsable Stock, side saddle and Weapon mounted light. If you have the money get the Surefire Pump Light. If not, go with a a good quality LED light and remote switch.
