How long have you kept the gun there? Any issues with the door popping open on rough roads? I only ask because the plastic latch probably wasn't designed to hold that much weight.

I agree that seems less particle and might be dropped in quick action situation , i would just keep it in the center console my 0.2¢

I've had it up there since I purchased the truck in November. The bulk of the weight is over the hinge area. I've not had it pop open at all. I put a Ruger LCP 380 up there and it fit real nice. That may be my next gun purchase since it's a bunch lighter than the derringer.

Yup, my .380 stays in the center console, my .45 stays on my side, and i always carry more than one knife. Just remember, dead men cant tell lies or sue... protect your life, protect your family, material items can be replaced. When the bad guys come around, take away their will to fight, and don't let up until the fight is over... if you give a little, they will take from you all that is precious in life. that's why you fight to the end.

Oh, and i think this thread deserves: :deadhorse::deadhorse::deadhorse:

i also have a holster mounted under the steering wheel... seems to be the best place for being right handed anyway. As far is it being noticeable, usually any tint on the windows make that a non-issue.

It IS always chambered, otherwise its like having a rock to throw...

Great mod very creative....I was looking at doing it with my Kel-tec .380 but the gun being so small it looks like it might slide too far down into the tray keeping me from getting a good grip to pull it.

A small string around the grip hanging out of the tray would fix this.

I have the same gun as a CC. There is no way on earth for that gun to go off by itself. the trigger pull way long and if you don't keep one in the chamber impossible to go off.

I keep it in my console safe if it's not on my side in a Pj Holster...

Nice. Putting this on my to-do list. PPK should fit just fine! I also considered the console but like this idea better. Thanks for sharing.
