Blue Head Light Bulbs

Hey guys I went to pick up some of those blue head lights at NAPA auto and they told me that they are illegal now. Checker's auto didn't have any either. Has anybody else heard this?

 

in california they are, if your car does not come with them they are illegal, those cheap one's are not as good as the stock ones anyway, just the look of hid. Might as well get an hid conversion. my .02

 

From what I have heard the have way worse light out put because they tint the bulbs blue. If you are wanting better light out put then get better performance replacement bulbs, like the silverstars, or you can get an hid kit which gets kinda pricey.

 

I just bought the HID kit for my headlights and foglight and can not even begin to tell you how much better they are and how its worth the money if you get a good deal on them. I just bought four hella 700ff for my light bar and the HID s are brighter then all four. Its crazy how good they are. I scored mine off craigslist for 140 for all!

 

Cool guys. I wount up buying new bulbs anyway. They were only about thirty bucks for the set but wow they made a huge difference. Its just alot whiter adn brighter. Its not that yellow ish light.

 

Which bulbs did you end up getting?

 

Yeah...Bulbs dim over time...Just new regular bulbs are a good step up from old ones. HID conversion kits are really great.

Totally gotta be careful with "colored" bulbs and stuff...Cause they can violate laws (like in FL- No blue or red lights showing on the front of the car...)

 

Anybody else have suggestions on which head light bulb replacements are the best looking on an 07? I've read a couple of threads and it sounds like people are just randomly picking replacement bulbs and seem to like over stock. Can anyone give me their best suggestion on which they think looks the best without going the blue'ish color route?

 

What's your definition of "looks best"?

 

if you want blue ish lights, go hid, if you want better stock like lights go with silvania silverstars.

 

If you monitor any of the LED/flashlight/SAR forums, you might have noticed that people are moving away from the blue-white to more the yellow-white as is provides far more distance detail and depth perception. I have swapped to amber lamps in my Hella driving lights and found them less tiring and definitely better in rain and snow. I have more recently seen several vehicles with yellow headlamps although I am unsure of their legality.

 

If you want performance bulbs then stay away from the Sylvania SilverStars, they'll only last a year if you're lucky. Get the Osram SilverStars instead, they're Euro spec bulbs and will last much longer than the Sylvania ones. Or get these Osram Nightbreakers:

Thanks guys, great support! I've been researching other threads on HID's & normal replacement bulbs, it sounds like an extra $70 or so will get you the HID's and are the way to go???? What I'm basically looking for is whiter light. Or the most "similar" looking replacement bulbs or lights that would compare to the luxury brand car/trucks on the road with the factory bi-Xenon or HID's. I think I know what I have to buy but I'm just looking for some assurance from the pro's and some direction.
