Does yours ride harsh with the ARB on there? My tires made a bigger difference in harshness than the coils did

Normal street driving no. Mall crawling with all the speed bumps it's jarring. I still have stock UCA's, I'm sure that is limiting travel. I have scuff marks from the UCA's hitting the coils. Air pressure change might help too.

I'm also running the 886, not the 886x. Not sure how much difference that makes.

It is a bit stiff on washboard type surfaces. But slow crawling over rocks at URE works well.

Great looking truck you've got there!!! Your truck has the exact stance I am looking for! Same tire size as well! Couple questions if you don't mind- how much did you have to trim to be able to fully turn and fully stuff the 285's? Are you running wheel spacers? Thanks!

Just ordered the old man emu setup after researching for months :)
I could not really justify the dakars for my needs so went with the rear aal I figure it will hold up for a few years.

Also ordered a set of goodyear duratracs 265/75/16's. I wanted to keep my stock wheels and not deal with spacers or totally kill my fuel mileage. Hopefully they dont look too small.

If everything comes in this week I should be posting pictures in this thread next weekend.

Pretty nervous ripping into a 2012 truck even though I have had it a year already.

Rides like a new truck on, and off road. Rides wildly different, I sail over bumps and dips- it's MUCH nicer and worlds apart from stock suspension.

Mind you, my "stock" suspension was heavy duty bilstein shocks all around at stock height, put on 35k miles ago.

Many more pics in my build...

Time to join the ranks I reckon....2nd gen 883's sitting on 1st gen Tundra 5-way adj. 5100's (set at zero) mounted on '00 1st gen.

    I got about 3.25" lift & holding....

The preloaded stock coil was roughly 11" from perch to tower,

the 883# at stock billy setting (0) sits at 13.25" from perch to tower

Yup, I am running wheel spacers, just because I didn't want aftermarket wheels. And I trimmed some unnoticeable plastic inside the wheel wells and then a tiny bit off of the inside corner of the bumper

On 2nd gens, alot, plus the cab chop, you know whats ironic is that 2nd gen. 5 luggers lend themselves more readily to bigger tires than the Sport/TRD offroad models, single biggest thing is theres no cab mount to chop...... :notsure:

Thats the set up I'm running. I think it looks perfect myself. I have a build thread somewhere with pics. You can check them out for some reassurance. Haha

Currently got stock coils on 5100's at 1.75" on my access cab. I'm looking at 884's vs 885's with 5100's at 0. I want to soften the ride a bit while maintaining or adding a bit to the lift with the preloaded 5100's. Also, I will be getting LR UCA's because my alignment always seems to be a little off. Would the 884's or 885's be a better choice?

885x's with Dakar leaf pack. "Custom" spacers/coil isolators in the front to level the truck front to back and side to side. It sits about an inch higher in the rear. Unfortunately back on my winter rims and 265's. will post a better pic in the spring!

The LR choice is a great one, installed 2 sets on 2nd gens. very good info sheet w/kit also ... you'll easily be within specs

Ok. Long story short. When I bought my truck it had a spacer lift that had rubber spacers that go in between the coil and top plate. These replace the coil isolators. When I installed my ome lift I realized that I had no coil isolators. So I drove for a couple of days without them then measured my hub to fender. I was almost an inch lower on the drivers side so I cut the coil spacers/isolators down to a half inch for the drivers side and 1/8" for the passenger side. Truck now sits level side to side. It's a bit higher in the back. I don't remember right off what my final measurements are.

I believe the 884 and 885 have the same spring rate but the 884's are 10mm shorter. So it all comes down to how much lift your looking for. If you want to be around 3" go with the 885. If you want to go a bit lower 2-2 1/2" go with the 884. Unless you have armor or anything else on the front to weigh it down.

    Awesome! good to hear

Any idea or experience if the OME coils will ride softer than a preloaded stock? I've got a 2" aal in the rear so maybe the 884's-- just so it isn't too nose high. This is assuming my 5100's at 1.75" gave me 1.75".
