About a couple months ago a loud sucking/popping noise started coming from behind the glove box where the interior air filter should be. This only happens when the recirculation button for the A/C is pressed on. As soon as I press the button off the noise goes away. Does anyone know what this could be?

I've open the little flap and nothing foreign is in there but the noise seems to be coming from the back side of the unit.

I read somewhere, think it was the cabin filter mod (in cheap mod link), that the 2005 does not have a cabin filter, but that is where it is located. If this helps.

My 05 didn't have one until I did the recertification on my own & added it. Never has made any kind of sound before or after, with or without the filter.

05's do not have the air filter. I'd be willing to bet that you have a stick or a leaf stuck in there.

Go to homedepot and buy a .99 furnace filter, cut it down to 8"x8.5" and slip it in....................beats paying 35.00 for an oem!
