I guess your garage floor wasnt graded properly, mine is the same. I had the same problem with my work bench so i cut some think rubber matting into peices big enough for the 2x6 legs to sit on.
    Check out this http://www.auto-care.com/cleanpark.html 9x22' is $250
If your garage isnt heated though, it could freeze and create a bigger problem.

yeah, house is about 35y/o and i guess it settled and created this problem. i dont really have to worry about it freezxing, its a 2 car garage and when you walk into the house, there is a wood stove inthe adjoining room, which can heat the garage rather quickly. so thankfully i dont have to worry about freezing. i have heard miixed reviews about that mat you linked. that after a couple winters, it cracks and is useless.

I like the light. It is cool to have the different shadows from the fixture.

i haven't used this, but i think someone (seen them while browsing around Amazon.com, etc.) makes large rubber mats that you drive your car over in the garage, ...collects all the water, kinda like a big weathertech floormat...

I started re-doing my workbench area in the garage yesterday to get more workbench space. I've been on garage journal too much lately lol

    Here's the before:
The rollaway toolbox usually sits next to the workbench.

The future holds something different for the toolbox

    New workbench/cabinet in progress

    My makeshift outfeed table.

Had to rip some 2x6's to make a custom cabinet base since the floor slopes. 3.5" in the back and 3.75" across the front.
    1158689A-A117-4DDB-97DB-2B5035B71A0C-132_83e077735c1951c87c825f87f1a008ba56a809cd.jpg

    Drawers assembled (all 1/2" ply)

Drawers hung on the sliders and fronts mounted

Toolbox seperated in half mounted under the cabinet. You can see judging by the sawdust and shavings that the far left toolbox didn't fit in without a little persuasion from the hand planer and the sander. I left myself 1/8" of wiggle room but apparently that wasn't enough.

That's all I got done yesterday.
For the workbench top, I plan on ripping and planing down some 2x6's and routing some T&G's into them. Then poly the top.

    More pics to come.

I gotta know where you got that! My wife has been looking for one like that for years. Everyone she finds is either too small or plastic.

If you look back through some of my old posts you can see the "build" for those cabinets. The tall ones are 12" deep x 8' tall x 2' wide to minimize waste and cuts. The middle uppers are just the difference between the two tall ones divided into 2 seperate cabinets.

It's a little shop in the Old Town section of San Diego. It's called the Tinsmith. Here's their facebook page:

If I remember correctly, we paid about $150 for that light with a cord. They come without a cord/socket. You can add one for $8. The cord has a plug on the end so I cut it off and hooked it up to the ceiling light. Or if you had an existing light, you could always canabalize it. There's a small latch that opens up the star to change the bulb.

The come in different sizes and colors (there are small beads that the light can shine through). Mine has blue beads. They also have amber and red, maybe green. They also have a shinier tin (mine is a blacker tin).

Planed and ripped some 2x6's for the workbench top tonight. I ripped them down to 5" wide on the table saw to straighten them out and square up the edges. Then I ran them through the planer to take 1/16" off each side. Then I edge glued the boards together and clamped it up. I'll pull the clamps off tomorrow.

Also added another section of pegboard to fill in the empty spot where the toolbox used to be.

Works perfectly fine for what I use it for. I've probably only run < 100 board feet through it. I think I paid around $200 for it.

The only negative is the lack of infeed and outfeed support, but that's easily remedied.

If I had a production wood shop I'd probably buy something a little nicer.

    My latest project :

We are pouring concrete for a couple sets of stairs , landing , retaining wall and planter that will be clad in 5" stone veneer

The site is a muck hole and it has been pouring rain the entire time

    Mid level landing

Lower stair wall with pillars at either end

    Retaining / planter wall

    Upper stair walls and planter

    Planter follows curved patio

10 days to build , 10 minutes to fill

It started pouring again as soon as we started finishing the walls

We started stripping today , hope to have the stairs / sidewalk formed and poured by the end of the week
