How did you remedy 5mph shudder after lift?

I'm at 2.5 front (Toytec-Billys all around) and 1.5 AAL + TSB. Differential drop and sway bar relocate. I got what I would say is a minor shudder at 5mph. I haven't strapped the camera underneath yet but I'm pretty sure its the carriage bearing like the video that circulated a whilw back. I've got 3 degree angle shims in now and the kind folks at Toytec are mailing me some 1.5 shims to try. Anyone else go with the Toytec Ultimate Lift Kit and remedy their shudder successfully???
I see lots of sick looking trucks and people show off their lifts here all the time but there is never any mention about the "shudder"; how detrimental is it to the truck? and how to remedy it.
I've searched plenty on the shudder but cannot recall any real "success" threads.

 

It's a case by case thing. if you think it might be the carrier bearing- Check out a CB drop kit....The differential could need a drop kit too....

Kinda gotta play around with it and see what falls out....Just trial and error...ya know??

 

Your lift is causing your transmission to go out. Start saving now, you'll need about 3200 dollars for a new tranny soon.

My 97 Tacoma ran a coil spacer lift + All pro AAL's on the rear equaling to about 2.5" of suspension lift. I added 3" Roger Brown body lift and ended up running 33x9.5's for over 180,000+ miles. No problems at all.

I got to looking at my 08 tacoma and I want nothing to do with lifting it. It is way to nice to jack up this ride and risk prematurly wearing the tranny/drivetrain and steering components. I also use this truck to haul my trailers and bass boat. I just laugh my ass off at lifted tacoma's pulling trailers... almost comical. I say:

LISTEN to surf's up.

 

So I am gonna tape my little digital movie cam underneath to determine whether it is the carriage bearing or the differential.

Sorry guys but I lost a bet and it was either spend $1500.00 getting my truck lifted with inclusive ensuing headaches or get my dick tatooed as a barber pole.
I'll stick with the lift for right now.
Its just a matter of angles. I'm just wondering which way I got to go.

And I laugh cause you're a douche. It's funny when you see a big ass f250 lifted and towing, but a Tacoma with a 3 inch lift is still well suited for towing.

i personally like the way my truck towes now that it has a lift. as far as my towing goes, it seems to have leveled out the trailers as well due to the higher hitch placement. enough with the towing though.

anyways, back to the thread.

I got a shudder after installing my lift and its coming from the back end. Apparently axle shims are an option for the rear. my shutter happens from 10-15 mph and i've just learned to accept it. With my chevy, i had to worry about shudders like that because those noises ended up being the transfer case eating itself or some other bs like that.

 

FUCK ME!!!! I removed the shim supplied by Toytec and the F#CKIN shudder got worse!!! F#CK! F#CK! F#CK!
Now its a shudder from 5-10mph and there's that f&ckin thump that started yesterday, too. I am so starting to regret lifting my truck.

 

take it to a driveline shop and see if they can measure the angle of the driveshaft, my mechanic is going to do mine next week, i think he said it should be 7.5*, what degree shim did you have, 2.5, 3, no worries, i have the 5mph vib too, no big deal. you will solve it.

 

yeah get them angles checked out, I got a 2* to put in.. just been lazy :|

I put the shim back in and I'm gonna go back to Denny (installer) and chat him up on whether I should try a three degree shim or not. I put the camera under the car and the shudder is not that bad. I can live with it for a while.
The pisser is that in addition to the shudder, I've got what really sounds like a bad wheel bearing. Going to Toyota for that after I call em up tomorrow. My dealership is very cool, I'm on good terms with everyone. So I'm positive things will get taken care of.
Sorry about the dirty lolipop-wet diaper-wanting a nap rant but being made aware of the "bearing/thump issue (on the tails of removing the shim making the shudder worse) really pissed me off.
Thanks for the encouragement. I'll get the angles looked at and corrected. I'd love a one piece drive shaft but I don't know which shaft would be more expensive the Tom woods drive shaft or the UPS shaft on shipping a drive shaft.

Ah man, I was planning on installing the Billy 5100s set at 2.5" with the 1.5 AAL + TSB with no differential drop, sway bar relocate,etc. Is the only way I'm going to know if I need these additional items is to install and then see how it drives?

Please keep this thread updated. Also, is this something that frequently happens with 2.5" lift? If I set the billy to 1.75, is this a "common" issue?

Thanks for the reply. Most of that came with my kit from Toytec, just not the carrier bearing drop kit.
I've seen mostly "didn't help" comments about the carrier drop kit.
I'll keep updating as it goes.
