Lol yea I want to avoid that

Plus I don't run 3 wires to the switch. Just two. I never run power through the switches.

hey monte, i know we have talked about this before but I cant find where we were. Whats the ultimate downside of the 1st gen s/c for our trucks? Was it only due to the ping or was there something else I'm forgetting.

Yes. But most wiring diagrams say to run power throu the switch that way too. I run ground through the switches. It's safer. My dad taught me  all power goes just to the relays and then from the relay to the lights. Cleaner install too

    Thanks man!! :D

Nothing haha I cut it to perfect size so it fit in the lip that's on the inside of that dash piece. Then I left the cubby mounted so it get sandwiched. Doesn't move at all. Ill just cut out the back of the cubby to pull wire through.

Nothin for you. Your a 97. No ecu issues for you. Just me as I'm 96. I have to swap in a 97 ecu to run a sc. However ping is still am issue so the urd 7th injector kit is a mist. For your year the urd 6 injector kit is more ideal.

You sure the 6 is more ideal? i gotta dig up all my old notes on this stuff again lol.

What i am most curious about is the 1st gen(grey) really all that much worse than the 2nd(black) gen? they really didnt change a whole lot on it if I remember right.

Oh you meant chargers. Yea the 2nd one is easier to do maintenance on and has a better pully wheel. Other then that about the same.

And yea the 6 injector kit is what we need as we have EGR. plus it's better to do that anyways.

I has no egr...I know you can get a lil more power out of the 6 but thats all I've heard of it being better.

I found a charger here in town, its a 1st gen that the guy is pulling so I'm just wondering if its worth it as opposed to getting the 2nd gen.

Yea I'd say it's worth it if the price is right. Should be a bit cheaper then a 2nd gen and also keep rebuild fee in mind. Might as well change the nose cone oil before you put it in.

I'd run the 6. Just safer IMO and more efficient. But that's the supra build talking.

The 3 pair is 14 gauge I believe..or 16 I think 14 tho can't remember  got it at Ace. The 6 pair was from Orielys. It's trailer wire cable. They had a 7 wire too but it was 12 gauge and 10 bucks a foot! So I went with the 6 set for 3 bucks a foot haha which is 14 I'm pretty sure.

Very handy tho! :D gonna make wiring a breeze.

Yeah, I looked at multi-strand irrigation wire, but I can't find any bigger then 18 gauge. They come in 6+ bundles though!

alright monte so for 285s or 305s... i was convinced by some guys at work to just gear the axles not do the crawl box.... just a better situation i think for what i want to do with it. no the question is.... 4.56 or 4.88???

4.88s are going to give you more of a crawler ratio. Over 3k for 75mph. 4.56 is gonna be close to stock with 285s.

    Not sure on 305s. Those are what size?..33.5? Cause isn't a 315 close to a 35
