I knew the story about the eagle. I was just being a smart ass. As for the Roll Tide/Crimson Tide, I have heard a few, but the most common is that for one, the color is crimson red, and when the football team is on the field they just "roll like a crimson tide" across the field.

Dave, you have been "sick" since you hit puberty! lmfao

Yeah, Al the elephant was chosen by Bear Bryant. The Roll Tide was affixed from a commentator describing the teams entrance onto the field.

    In or around Huntsville, AL.

Someone told me the best place to get lift / weld-on sliders / skids / etc was a place called "Victory" (Offroad, I think) in Arab, AL.

I asked a guy at work who lives down in Cullman, and he said he heard about it.

I can't find them online (maybe I go the name wrong).

    The context:

I was chatting with some guys and telling them my plans for when the 3/36 ran out on my 2011 DC/OR. They warned me away from Rocket City (the only place I know about). Of course, these aren't offroad guys, so I don't know.

Anyway, I'm not looking to do anything for a while, just curious. I'd like to find a really good shop in or near HSV.

    Thanks.

Victory welded on my sliders, they did pretty good work. It's a very small shop, Kyle knows the owner. (To what level of intimacy, the rest of us can only speculate.)

Rocket City definitely does good work. However, the owner is a giant dick, and their prices can be pretty high for some work.

What do you want done? This group has installed plenty of lifts.

    Thx jspadaro.

My main goal is to keep the lift at a reasonable height to keep that solid, on road, stock feel. I had a really tall Jeep Cherokee XJ that I got regeared and all, but it just lost that daily driver feel. (I'm sure some can relate).

I'm not in a hurry, but my short list is:

3" lift max (edit: probably go with aftermarket UCAs)
probably 285/55 pizza cutters on some black steelies
(still not sold on 285s/stock gears auto, ran 4:56 in Jeep with 32s/autol)
probably road armor front bumper and winch / a high clearance rear
weld on sliders with kick outs

Going for sort of an overland look with stock DD comfort. I'll do it all at once.
I don't mind paying a quality shop to do it, but I don't want to drive 200 miles to get it done either. :)

Do it yourself! Go to the next meet with your truck if you'd like help - coils and UCAs have been changed out several times before at meets, and it usually takes like an hour or less with all the help you get.

As far as the bumper, I haven't done it yet, but Kyle has at least, it doesn't look that hard...

Victory did do a good job welding my sliders, so I can say I would happily bring the truck there for that again - they were also willing to weld on the truck on a Saturday, which Rocket City refused to do, saving me from having to try to hustle the truck someplace on a weekday.

I'm pretty sure everyone in this thread has installed some sort of lift at least once. I'm on my third now. And yes, bumpers are pretty easy to install. It is nice to have two people to lift it into place.

alright guys, the truck sold, so I am no longer a Toyota owner. I will definitely be looking for another one in the future though.
