They're just upset that they're stuck driving a 1st Gen. That's why they're trolling the 2nd Gen Section to begin with

I paid to have my lift installed. I don't mind working with some stuff on the truck but usually avoid touching things that if I messed up would end in catastrophic failure. Not sure why people get on everyone who doesn't do all the work themselves. It was much easier for me dropping the truck off at the 4x4 shop before heading into the office and having it done when it was time to come home.

Yeah, but you have all that sweet money from pitching for Myrtle Beach.

I hate dealing with coil spring compressors. They are difficult and dangerous if you don't know what you are doing. Well worth it to me to have a professional shop handle it. I have put coil spring spacer lifts on two different vehicles I have owned and will never do it again.

If I do decide to repl the shocks... which will likely happen at some point. It will all depend on what else is going on when I decide to order the parts. There is a shop in town that would let me use their stuff if I do it myself, but with work, wife and kid taking up a lot of my time and possible Christmas bonus, I may end up paying them to do it.... but not the standard rate. The older I get the less time I have to spend on stuff like this.

    Hello all,
This is a couple of months old. I was wondering since reading this. Sounds like most who buy the 5100's use their old springs. Why is this ? What would be the advantages or disadvantages for using your old springs or say getting the 5100's with new eibach springs (I am new here and just trying to figure this out).

I read on here if you get eibach, set the 5100 to "0" and that should give you 1.6 of lift, some say it will give you 1.75 of lift (confusing which is it). Then they say if you get 5100's and use your stock springs you have to set them higher to get the 1.75 inch of lift.
    So any way
    this is my proposed build
Front 5100's (either stock springs or eibach, kinda leaning towards eibach, unk why)
Rear 5100's (unk if I need AAL or new leaf pack or just leave it)
most likely a differentialy drop (if needed)
Maybe UCA's if there is an aligment and vibration issues (unk which brand maybe ICON).

Any thoughts of techincal/mechanical point of views from those of you in the know.

    Thanks
