How are you doing the timing part of it? Will yours just be on whenever the switch is on (meaning you'll have to remember to turn them off)?

No timing yet, but I may go with a 555 circuit if this becomes an issue. Just flip the switch when I want them, and I'll pull switch power from ignition power in the nearby harness (like from the mirror controller?) to power a relay for the heavier work of current supply.

I'm going to tap the cigarette lighter for heated mirror power. That way they will only be able to be turned on when the ignition is on and the draw is so low it shouldn't bother that circuit one bit. I normally only have my GPS plugged in there anyways.

Yep, depending on where your switch is going, that could make a lot of sense. I'm staying over on the left side of the steering wheel, and I don't like long runs of wires. Passing a wire for the passenger-side mirror supply is going to piss me off just a wee bit...

Switch is on the left side of the steering wheel. I try to avoid long runs but a couple extra feet won't do anything negative.

The Sienna mirrors I got have 2 prongs sticking out, unlabeled. I'm inclined to believe it doesn't matter which is which, it's just creating resistance to make heat so it shouldn't matter. You might want to call a dealership to confirm though.

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
What Mike said. If the Highlander mirrors are actually labeled (+/-), I would just wire it according to that to be safe.

Oh, if they're actually labeled, keep them straight. Mine weren't labeled at all so I didn't bother keeping track of which prong was which.

^^^Me too, the Sienna mirrors aren't labeled, and it really doesn't matter which is which. Not sure if the Highlander mirrors are actually labeled though, or if itsakeeper is wondering which is POS/NEG.

Only explanation I could see for polarity would be if there was an indicator led built into the mirror - but these things aren't fancy enough for that I don't think. ;)

That is strange....where did you order from (if you don't mind me asking)?

I want to make sure I keep the OP updated with accurate info.

ordered from the ebay links i posted. Its just the glass with the heater. Ill post pics later.
It probably clips into the stock backing plate no problem but if i have to modify it i will post.
Not 100% sure when ill get to it.

I'm surprised that you got just the glass only.?.? .You'll most likely have to adhere the glass to the existing backplate, the glass alone simply doesn't just clip into is plastic base.

Here is a quote I pulled from my post a few pages ago... This link (as well as many others) have the glass and backplate factory applied, it's just a snap and go, It's a genuine Toyota OEM product.
