Haha i know! Fuck 2wd it sucks so bad! With a locker itd be better but i'd way rather have a locked 4wd. Even if i was LT'd id keep my 4wd, peace of mind especially in sand and not worth the 2-3" of travel you gain without it :p and i think its more beneficial to tune your shocks and get usable travel than to have 25" of shitty travel lol

Yeah, you can go more places with less travel and locked diffs than with more travel and open diffs

You have bigger tires? I thought they were stock size on your truck?

I have 3:90 gears in it. My truck came factory with the 225/75-r15 (28.3 inch diameter) tires equipped sadly. I put 31's on it and would like to restore my power loss.

Hmmm. Strange. I guess you must have the most basic model. Have you confirmed that with the axle code?

The easiest way to find 4:10 gears might be to get used f/r differentials out of another tacoma

Yeah I confirmed it with the codes on the sticker in the door jamb. I just relized most everyone in here has the SR5. Thing is mine isn't the most basic model, It's got A/C, automatic, and power everything.

I have been searching for front and rear axles but haven't found the right ones so far :(

You should look in the the buy/sell/trade section or check out TTORA's for sale section. I located my 4.10 F/R diffs on TTORA.

I bought my truck new and it had 31x10.50s on it. The windows sticker didn't say anything about tires/gears, so I didn't think about it. Later on, I learned the dealer replaced the 225s with the 31s. My stock gears are 3.56 (2.7L 5sp). It took awhile to locate front and rear diffs with 4.10s. 4.10s are only available from Toyota or salvaged from another truck. I have my 4.10s ready to go in, just don't have the time at the moment. It also has new tires on it since this picture was taken.

After the gear swap, I plan on changing the front and rear springs/leafs to gain about 1.5 to 2 inches lift. Its sagging a little now after all these years.

I'd be interested if they'd fit in a my front diff.
I don't know if there's a difference between your A.D.D front diff and mine with manual locking hubs

From all the reseach I did leading up to purchasing a 4.10 gear setup, the front clamshell is the same between the add and manual hub trucks. The difference being the passenger side jack shaft that bolts to the clamshell. The manual is a solid shaft in a tube with 4 bolts. The add has a slider and a 2 peice shaft and a tube with 4 bolts. East Coast Gear Supply told me you just have to swap the add tube for the manual tube along with the matching pieces.

For what it's worth... the "31-inch tires" were an option on all 4x4 Tacomas from 95-97. It had a code and everything. You could get them on any trim level... Base, LX, and SR5. It came standard on the SX. When they drove my new truck out of the back lot, I saw it with those little tires (the 225s) and I said, "uh, that's not going to work"... lol. They got out their little book and found the 15" replica alloys (have held up much better than the factory alloys any way) and mounted some BFG all-terrains on there for me... But yeah, I was stuck with the base gearing.... 3.91. If you had the package, you automatically got the 4.10 gears. Other packages (commonly found on the SR5) had 31" tires and 4.10 gears automatically included... but it wasn't until 1998 that 31" tires were more universal.

Anyone in here have LED light bars mounted? Where did you mount them? Thinking about getting one or two. my original idea was to get round lights and do this (photoshop)
But I am thinking LED bars might be better. I was also wondering what bull bars, push bars, bumpers the 95-97 guys have gone too. I would like it to be just a simple bolt up. I dont have access to welding tools anymore.
