Question for you people's of the garage :)

My boss is working on getting me a company vehicle. He's been having an issue trying to find a decent used vehicle, that will be reliable and useable for the company. My problem is, I have the space to park a third vehicle in my driveway but its gonna be a pita because of my work hours and my wife's.
I mentioned one day using my truck and he liked the idea. Said he would buy me a cap for my truck if I agreed. I wouldn't tow anything with my truck though because his trailers are too heavy (maxes out his 2500hd). All I would carry is our normal daily tools.

Should I just use my truck and ask him to pay half my insurance and half my monthly payment? Or deal with a third vehicle and having to shuffle vehicles around?

Have him pay you milage and insurance. Make sure you check in to the insurance thing. Work vs home insurance is pretty different especially with the liability coverage.

Need to find out about that. I would definitely want a gas card if he gets a company vehicle because he's looking at getting a big truck for towing all his trailers

No need for mileage since our jobs are all very close to home and any Jobs further away, we get paid for one way travel time.

Would still be a personal vehicle, just doing him a favour.

just for reference, I get an $8/hr vehicle allowance and for out of town jobs $1.25 per mile one way for mileage plus regular wage for travel time.

So an hour south of Provo the truck dies...nursed it to Scipio and had a mechanic look at it. It was throwing 2 codes. He cleared them, took the truck for a test drive with me and said it was good. Laid the hammer down and just pulled into Flagstaff, AZ. Mom's getting sick, so we decided to stop. Only about 4 hours from home.

On a side note, my buddy is starting to annoy me. He's the one who crashed into me with his bike. He posted in his FB that it's been 21 days since he's ridden his bike and they don't know if it's totalled or of they're gonna fix it. He keeps texting Gina and I asking if mine's in the shop or at home. I know he wants to borrow it, but with the way he rides and has too much road rage issues, I'm not sure if I really wanna let him use it right now. After all, it's his fault for the collision.

I've only let one other person ride my bike. I trust him 100% with it. If I didn't he would get to drive it. If you Don't trust him, don't let him ride it.

Glad you got back on the road and getting closer to home.

Tell your "buddy" NO WAY on borrowing your bike!!! The wreck was his fault and if he has those issues, your bike might not be so lucky next time.

Hope your mom is doing ok.

Meh...him and I are fine and Selene's getting 100% fixed through his insurance. But if he's riding her and wrecks, it comes outta my insurance and his broke ass doesn't have the money for the deductible.

B, I'd go for the work vehicle... why put the mileage and wear and tear on your truck?
