    Is Toyota making this happen?

Or is the dealership trading a new 2013 truck for a used 2012 truck with issues?

Sounds about right- any company will try to screw you out of your stuff, even if it is their fault- which this quite obviously is. Best of luck to you, and to anyone else dealing with this crap.

Truth be told, you're right I could care less.

Most people have very limited knowledge of how mechanical things work. 16mm of difference over the length of the frame, to me wouldn't be a cause for concern. I'm not Toyota though. Their frame, their tolerance, their warranty. If it were my truck, and I had no drivability issues, I wouldn't give it a second thought. In fact, my frame is bent, right at the shackle hanger, drives great, no funny wear, no issues, no care.

I did get an email back from the dealer. I emailed them to ask if the claims in this thread were factual and I got a very nice reply back to the tune of yes.

Guess I can be happy for him. I would have caved long before he did and my frame would be straightened.

How did this even happen? If the frame is bent there had to have been at least a few bolt holes that didn'tline up and it would be caught during assembly.

If you look through the OPs opening post, he mentioned that there was a 12mm error in the frame. It is not beyond comprehension that the frame was "tweaked" in shipping, thus not something that would have been noticed since it had already been built at that time.

I am waiting on the email from the dealership that has the picture of the 2 Tacomas side by side. As soon as I get the picture I will post. By the way all of the employees at the dealership appreciated the great gifs on the posts.

    Yeah.
I started reading this thread at the beginning and was about to make the comment that there is a difference between what the "right thing to do" is and what the law may require.

I agree and disagree with a lot of the posts in this thread, specifically that I don't think the OP was being too picky, but also that the truck should be fine after a repair. That said, being honest with myself, I would have taken the same stance as the OP if our positions were swapped.

It sounds like the proper course was followed to see what Corporate could do for the OP. I doubt Toyota Corporate has a process to compensate a dealer for a swap out like this, leaving it in the hands of the dealer to figure out what to do to "make it right."

Glad to see the dealer stepping up and doing the right thing, restoring a little of my faith in humanity.

not sure if it has been clarified if the dealer or Toyota is picking up the cost of this trade.

yes, if Toyota is covering the cost...the dealer will be involved to some extent (not sure if Toyota compensates a dealers time/imput in this situation)

if the dealer is handling this w/o corporate financial imput...I would be shocked.

also, I bet the OP's used 2012 with frame isues ends up on the dealers used car lot and is "Toyota Certified".

Good one! You probably helped the OP out by checking up on him. Cynicism can bring about a positive reaction I guess.
