Took my 2010 tacoma into the dealer to have my stereo replaced under warranty.when I picked up my truck later in the day there was a chuck taken out of the dash pad just above the stereo.I then notice the Bezel all around the stereo head had deep chunks and scratches. It appeared that someone tryied to pry the stereo head out of its mounting area. The service manager came out and took a ton of pics and said he would contact me when the parts arrive and appoligized for the damage.well 6 weeks later no world from the dealer, so when I called the service manager he replied with the parts are on "back order". I then called Toyota Canada to hopefully expidite the process.Well 3.5 weeks later I finally get my truck in and the dealer replaced the bezel which now looks new again. The chunk that was taken out of the dash pad was filled with paint. The service manager said it will be fine and that there was many layers of paint applied to fill the hole.I told the service manager that the repair wasn't exceptable which he replied...its too expensive to replace it! and offered some free oil changes in Lieu which I declined.so to make a long story short..Called Toyota canada back and they had their managment team member that was dealing with the file return my call.Max the rep from toyota canada informed me that although your truck was in getting warranty that they have no authority over the dealership to repair any damage that is done and that I will need to deal with the service manager on this matter. He suggested I email the president of Toyota Canada if that wasn't to my liking. any thoughts would be appriciated....all I want is my truck back to what it was before I took it in for warranty!

go to his boss, either the service director or general manager. if they fucked up your dash they need to replace it.
when people come into my dealership,if they complain enough anything is free. it sucks because alot of people take advantage of it,but in your case its needed.

It is frustrating. A tech at my local dealer broke my dipstick while doing a service. They refused to cover replacement because it was my fault for choosing their shop for servicing. $27 and one week later I got my new dipstick. 6 months after that I spent $40000 at a different dealership, buying a new vehicle. I hope they didn't spend my $27 bucks all in one place. :p

Paint basic message on plywood "damaged under warranty, will not repair" or whatever you see fit.

Park yourself, truck, and plywood in front of/near the dealership before they open. Make sure you are on PUBLIC property, or obtain permission from the property owner to park there.

Dealership manager sees you, sends some "pee-on" out to go get you. Hash it out politely. If they won't budge, thank them for their time, return to your spot and put the sign back up.

First go to the general manager or the top guy you can talk to. Work your way through them, being courteous and explaining what you expect. When those fail, I've found that it's not hard to get the owner's phone number. I guarantee when you call the owner and tell him none of his workers wanted to fix this, shit will get done pretty quickly.

The alternative is to take it to the local news outlet. They love that kind of "investigative" reporting and "human interest" type of story. David versus Goliath and all that.

If it's so expensive they shouldn't have damaged it then... they need to fix their mistake.

edit: Op... could you post a picture of said damage?

One well written letter from a lawyer (or Paralegal on company letterhead) will usually get the job done.
