That year, and to see it updated like that. So classy. Ugh. Put off buying a house after college...that's definitely a pavement pounder I would kill for.

    And then I found this.

Still looking for details, but I want one.

Edit: Looks like its just some CGI going on. It would be a sick project to bring it to life though.

    Hey fellow NW'ers

Anyone know anything abouting rooting a DROID X2?

I'm pretty good with this kind of shit and with these phones but not sure about the rooting process.

I just want to get rid of the fucking bloatware and the constant message of "low on storage" when I have a shitload of storage left.

I took all the pics and important shit like that and copied them to my portable hard drive so those are safe and sound.

I read on the link I put down below that the root is for droid version 2.3.4 and lower.....mine is 2.3.5 !!! Go figure! Can I still do it?

    Now:

    1. After rooting does it get rid of shit like all apps and whatnot but still have an operating system? Does the phone work like normal after the root or do I have to install some stuff to get it running again? Kind of like reformatting a PC?

    2. Should I write down all the apps I have so I can redownload them later? I lose all those correct?

    3. I'm confused on what the phone will be like after the root happens.

It's like theres a little fucking terrorist inside these droid phones that after 12 to 18 months of owning the phone they set off a damn shit bomb in there that makes the phone go full potato mode. pisses me off!!

Any help would be badass and thanks ahead of time. I just don't want to brick my phone.

I found this link also: good or no?

it will look exactly the same. all rooting does is give you privileges to alter things. you'll be able to get rid of the bloatware etc, but the ROMs are probably what you are after. Those allow you change the "skin" or theme of your phone, what the buttons look like etc.

xda is the place to go though. you should be able to get through the whole process with that website.

edit: forgot to say that you dont need to save your stuff. well you should...to be safe. but if you are gonna root your phone, go get titanium backup first and it will do it for you

I always recommend backing up your stuff before rooting.

    crap bolted and welded together....
RAPR! I've rooted and flashed custom ROMs on multiple phones.

First for rooting. Google UnRevoked. Best one click root out their. Before you root, download rom manager, and backup your whole phone on your SD cars.

Once rooted you have a few options on what to do. The easiest is to download an app called blackmarket alpha from the app store. Once downloaded search for rom manager premium. Basically the blackmarket alpha is just like the fooled play store, but all paid apps are free, :)

Then check out android411.com or any other android forum. Find a rom made for your phone, most forums have sub sections for each device. Then follow their install description. Or use the Tom manger you downloaded and ypi can search for roms on their. I use Tom manager to flash lots of roms, and back-up my schiz. If you need any help you can PM me and ill do my best.

But as a disclaimer, I'm not responsible for damage,or you rooting your phone which is turning the security off.
