Any recommendations for sidewalls on Guard Dogs?

Need something thats good for highway/pavement, as well as strong enough to go off roading and get me to more remote camping areas. I'm thinking I want to stay away from BFG sidewalls because of weight, but still want something strong. Nitto seems to be the next best from what I've read?

i dont know much about them, but i do know that they just add tread to what ever tires they get in. like ive seen a set that my buddy got they were all km2 tires with "mtr" tread. so i think it just depends.

You can get 285s, which are pretty much a 33", and from what I've read the Treadwrights run large.

And you get to pick your carcus. If I was going to get Wardens I'd get BFG A/T carcus, so it would look just like a new BFG A/T. Since I've decided to go for the added traction and appearance of an M/T, I've gotta come up with a new approach. Though BFG I may just get the A/T carcus on the Guard Dogs anyway. BFG A/Ts are great tires. I miss my old set of them.

I was leaning to the MT's but heard a video of the in cab road noise with the MT's and they where pretty loud. A local just got 35" Guard Dogs so hoping I can really see how loud they are.

Not in for the gb but I have been running 285/75/16 Treadwright Wardens for a few years now without a problem. They tend to give off a little vibration when it is really cold when you first start driving but it goes away in no time. They do seem to run big too. Otherwise they have been great tires and are holding up great. I have @ 35k on mine and they are still in excellent shape. Their customer service is excellent also.

If you doubt running these tires, don't. I was contemplating over what tire to get. I was talking with my buddy and he told me about his dad running these for years without a problem so I decided to give them a go.

Oh yea. I'm in Michigan so they see a couple months of snow duty a year. They perform just as good as a BFG AT if not better. They don't seem to need the siping the BFGs did when i had them, and that was on a 4Runner with a better weight balance.

I was finally able to get my Wardens mounted and balanced yesterday. They were listed as "Out of Stock" on the website for ordering so I called. I was unaware of the ability to pick your carcass when I ordered but mine arrived on terra grappler carcasses in load range "D". I wish I would have gotten the BF A/T carcasses but oh well. I now know for next time. So far the only thing I've noticed is that they are loud. Not unbearable loud, just louder than the BFG A/T's I had on before. It's really not that bad, and I can def. live with it. All four balanced out great and ride like a marble across glass. Ok maybe not that smooth but they are no worse than BFG's. The tech at Tire Discounters showed me one tire, as it had a little more radial runout than the others. He informed me that this could cause a vib (I already knew the effects of radial runout). I've had it up to 65mph, and no balance vibs or shimmies at all. So far, a great buy at $547 to my door.

Hmm. Mine don;t seem loud to me but I was running Kumho MTs prior to them that had cupped on me. Mine balanced right up too.

I knew about specifying a carcass ahead of time.

it would be cool if they offered 255/85R16, give us a chance to try "tall & Skinny" without laying out $900 for KM2s.
