I am wanting to install some aftermarket reverse lights and was wondering what some were that I could install that would come on automatic when I put it in Reverse. How would I wire that up?

If you only want them on when you're in reverse than you'd tap into the line for your stock reverse lights....

Mine are just wired a switch on the dash... Great for hitching stuff up and launching the boat at night:cool:

Are those anything special or just those circle ones you see at wal-mart?

    walmart special....
I didn't want to fork over a lot of cash for how often they end up in the water. If you go this route i recomend sealing the lens cover on with some epoxy or something similar. I learned that lesson

oh thanks for the tip. Mine will definately see water quite often. And I'm also not looking for more than 25 bucks or so for them.

I have the same ones Taconut has. Walmart for $15! :D

I did a relay behind the driver side tail light with 12v coming straight from the battery since I've had too many fog/driving lights melt wires so I didn't want to splice them straight into the factory reverse light wires.

Yeah, I just realized you have the round ones. lol I was looking for the smallest, least likely to be ripped off ones. So far I've only had to replace one bulb. Probably due to the rubber cap failing so I cover the back side with liquid electrical tape to seal it up. So far so good about a month later.

Have em switched manually so I can use them as "Get off my ass" lights if need be.

I had figured that since they're level w/ the bottom of my hitch my tow ball will hit 2" or so before they do.... and even if they do, they were $15

Well that was my thought too, but no point in tempting fate. :D

I wanna get them switched as well so I can turn them on as work lights (or get off my ass lights sometimes), but I want to do a dual battery setup first. No point in draining the battery or wasting gas when I'm at my buddy's house trying to work in the dark.

Yeah. :( $200+ for the Odyssey battery I want, or 2 Optima's and an isolator. Lack of funding and time to do it has put research and final plans on the back burner for a while.

I have the same square looking lights as piercedtiger, but mine are a little closer together and kinda pointed outwards.

I found them in the garage so I used them. :D

    oil change...
I had a pair of the 15$ ones from wal mart, they lasted a decent while for being only 15 bucks, but the housing was plastic and they both broke.
I just picked up another pair to replace them and these ones has a metal housing!
both from wal mart and cost the same as the last pair! I did buy some silicon to completely waterproof them. Hopefully these will last alot longer:D

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I saw some where in either here or TN that they can be hooked up with a switch and come on automatically when in reverse. Can someone point in the same direction or tell me what I'll need? I have the 15 dollar lights from wally world.
