Hey guys, I need ideas, so if you can help me out that'd be awesome. I'm shooting a video with my DSLR and the theme of the shot that I need to get is "Mobilize" like 'You are being released to go out and do'. I need to find something visually representative of this. Some ideas we had were: bundle of balloons being let go, Flood of people leaving a door and fanning out (favorite so far), cattle being let out of the gate, those types of things. People or objects work better than animals in this case as we're making this video for a bible college and it's sort of the last step in the process to take what you've learned and go out and put it into action.

if it's for a church, the symbolism of the balloons works... of if you have enough money to rent some white doves, you could do a release of the flock, etc...

or for people, get a group of people dressed to represent diversity as they walk together in solidarity...

or people of different economic classes, i.e. suits, homeless, blue collar, white collar, etc...

or a group of children fanning out and approaching a group of senior citizens in some kind of generation outreach...

opening pan shot of seniors, drab and just there, then cut to kids walking together, then cut to interaction, etc...

cut to happy reaction of seniors as children reach out to them, etc...

I would start by establishing a character that is part of the larger group. Then use the people leaving a building/church/whatever then following the character you established in the beginning as that person goes out to make his mark on the world.

Your establishing shot could be in a class with your character interacting with the instructor with your character applying that lesson in the real world. An example would be discussing charity/giving in the community and the follow-up, working in a food bank or something.

    Good luck!

Mod list will be minor for now, haha. 3M clear front bumper vinyl thing, mud flaps, maybe tint and some wheel spacers. Until its paid off, then.... :burnrubber:

I saw a nice WRX at Hollister Hills yesterday-that's an OHV park. 4x4 and motorcycles. Black, worked motor, lowered. All he did was cruise the dirt roads-slowly :D

They're nice capable cars the way they are. Which is cool.

6spd - nice shots dude! I especially like the last two.

Jake - they may not be mind blowing but still really good. How do you get so little noise/grain? Do you use noise reduction? I ask because with my D700 at 2500 ISO I see more noise than your pics are showing. Trying to figure if its my camera.

It depends on the light. It was really well lit (in a parking garage) so i think that was able to keep the noise down. but also post production too, luminance, masking, sharpening, and clarity. (in lightroom 3)

post examples of this. 2500 iso with a d700 should really show a significant amount of noise. it can be added or minimized in lightroom, as noted above.

Yeah, mine gets noisy as well, just the perks of almost a 5 year old camera

Nikon, especially, has made huge progress with regard to sensor technology. Especially in the area of high ISO/low noise.

I like it, but a little over exposed for my taste.
