    They approved the $15 Billion sale of a Canadian oil company that owns big chunks of the oilsands to the Chinese state oil company

    We would have been better off to sell them the oil , instead we sold them the company extracting the oil

    Actually , I think in this case , it is a matter of throwing the Chinese a bone in order to gain access to trade

    Canada is making a concerted effort right now to broaden our trading partners beyond the US so that we are not so tied to the ups and downs of thr US economy , turning down the Chinese bid for Nexen would be kinda hypocritical at the same time that you are trying to garner trade and investment interest from the same people
