Honestly Nick... at your age/place in life you should be maintaining stock. They're incredibly capable stock as is... hell I took my pre-runner more places than I ever should have (granted, trd locker). Your big focus really needs to be school, making enough scratch to keep by, ect... There will be plenty of time later to blow money you shouldn't on car parts lol.

 

@ David- Yup that is my dad too!! That is why he says no to all my upgrades.

@ Jake- Your CEL is different though, you dont actually have a problem. My truck is being super restrictive. My cats rattle to shits inside and I feel like the honeycombs have just straight fallen apart. It rattle when I start it and when I drive (not all the time though). Could damaged cats affect hp and mpgs?

So my dad comes home I ask him if I can buy longtubes and he says you need cats and they check to see if there is cats on the truck. I try explain what the longtubes do, but it is like talking to a rock. He does not know a single thing about cars.

 

I got over a 3.2 GPA so I do well in school. The only reason im stuck on the long tubes is because getting new cats is practically the same price, so why not just get the longtubes.

 

It'll create more backpressure and such, more restriction.

Honestly.... cheapest overall solution...
1) remove broken cats (unknown if front or rear). Take a drill.. and um "fix" by removing cat material.
2) install urd sim to over-ride signal

 

haha true. It said bank 1 so im assuming its the first, but im not sure how to remove the first cats?
I actually dont care about the CEL coming on. Aslong as I know my truck truly is running better is all that matters to me.

 

Nick, my truck has had so many problems with it. I had to spend 3 grand out my own pocket to fix it up, I then started to invest in suspension and other cool things. My CEL is putting out 4 codes which will probably cost me another $500+ too. But I love my truck and am never getting rid of it... NEVER! What im pretty much saying is that no matter what, a truck will always have problems.... Unless you buy brand new

I really like your truck, just fix the rattle and then save up for some long tubes... Although I like short tubes better myself

I agree. I could have paid my truck off already if I would have spent the money on the loan, rather than on wheels, tires, spidles, shocks, lights, sliders, leafs, tire carrier & matching full size spare, bump stops, skids, 5+ alignments due to lifts or offroading. ect. ect.

Colby is wise enough to keep his truck suspension and drivetrain stock.

I tried to photoshop chewi into my sig pic but i could not find a picture that would blend in, I wanted it to make people do a double take when they notice him in the background

 

So I am debating on hollowing my first 2 cats, but I am a bit scared for a few reasons. Smell, maybe make it run worse, and other I cant think of anymore.

 

So I went under the truck and I found an extended black rectangular device connected to an O2 sensor under my passenger side on my Y-pipe. I looked under our 4runner to check if it had one, and it was a regular O2 sensor connection. I am
