4x4 on how it should be

 

I bought my first 4x4 back in 1988, had so much fun with it, I owned only 4wd from that point on.

 

4X4... 99.9% for winter weather driving... .1% for zombie apocalypse escape capabilities.

 

I have a 4x4 for snow and very occasional offroading. I don't see the point in a 4x2 truck.

 

I think if I lived where it was flat, and didn't snow, I would consider a 2X4 if it was going to save me a ton of money.

 

I have a 4x2 bought it when i lived in northern california. Currently live in colorado and while a 4x4 would be nice for recreational purposes, still dont see the need for one for daily use even if it does snow here.

 

I have a 4x4 for offroading and very occasional snow lol.

I will only have 4x4 trucks because I've always had 4x4 vehicles and the one month I didn't have a truck I had to borrow one (4x2) I got stuck in the front yard and had to pull it out with my wife's 4x4 Tahoe by my self with nobody in the truck. Lol. I put the truck in neutral and tied the steering wheel straight and pulled it to the driveway. And said to myself I would never own a 2wd truck.

 

What if you own a 4x4 and never get out of 2WD?
In reallity there are more 4x2 owners on here because the 4x4's use both.

4x4, it's a necessity around here for winter driving. The most offroading I do with it is to get to parking places so I can unload the ATV and ride from there, my 400ex is a 2wd though! Best way to be on a quad, fast and fun, I go everywhere the 4x4 quads go.

 

4wd or bust

 

BOTH I have 2wd. Then I can shift into 4x4.

Im sure this is different cause this is an enthusiast board, but if my truck was 4wd id use it. I actually almost bought a 4wd version of my truck but i lived in ca at the time and found one in nevada and unfortunately for me it was a 49 state truck which since I didnt have "special circumstances" i couldnt bring it into commiefornia.

But my best friend from college got an 01 pathfinder in 2008 from his brother (who bought it new!) He asked if the 4wd worked and his brother responded, i dont know, never used it. Thats the kind of shit that give 4wd owners a bad name ... its one thing to have it if you use it. Given in colorado this isnt an issue, cause most people with 4wds at the very least use the shit for bad road conditions, but in ca where im from people who NEVER go to the mountains or off road have 4wds

 

4x4 for this area. Never again will I own a 2wd pickup unless I move south. I guess I talk a big game, but so far, this winter has been weak like last winter.

 

Decided after years of making due with a 2wd to switch back to 4wd. Can't wait to use it this winter. I've already went and checked out some trails I never could have got to with the 91 Dodge it replaced.

 

4x4 all the way! The way I look at it is that you never know when you might need it. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. My wife thought I was crazy for insisting we get her 4runner in 4x4 and she thought she'd never use it and then....she needed it.
