I doubt most illegals are concerned with our debt or even know about it. I guarantee 70% of the population has no fucking clue what's going on with current events in the US, let alone global issues. All they know it's better here than whereever they came from. Polls show most ppl dont knwo who Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, John Boehner, are. But they do know all about Sarah Palin's personal life (not defending her at all, just the fact that media will focus on the juicy stuff not what's important).

With regards to immigration, people need to understand that they play an important role in our everyday life. I highly doubt a high school kid will work as hard as some illegals do just to send most of their pay home to their family across the border. Our immigration policy needs reformed but putting a wall up is not the answer, neither is opening the gates.

I personaly find it extremely sad when Honolulu is ranked the top US city to live in, but in the high 20's overall worldwide. The US has dropped in education, QOL, GDP per capita, health and many other areas compared to the world. The fact that nobody seems to care or want to do anything about it is sad too.

What I do find funny is a poll was done on election day, the question was if your candidate loses where would you go? The results were Canada, Australia and Colorado. If they were Canada or Australia their policies are far more "socialists" than anything Obama could ever do.

more than they could dream of in their home country = success.

and for many...the fame is a bonus.

for some, both the fame & fortune = a curse. that list sadly is too long. :(

I completely agree with you. I have the same doubt, it just doesn't make sense. Having to make money to support a family is more motivation than wanting to make money to buy an Iphone or something like that. The only twist if the money is sent to another country its not being spent in this country.. An interesting dilemma

Not trying to be political if this post turns out sounding that way but... The U.S. is a little hypocritical. The U.S. military is stationed around tons of countries. We have spies in tons of countries. However, if they came and did the same thing to us, we would have none of it. Some of it is to protect them but most is just because we just want to be ahead of them when war breaks out. We have more nuclear weapons than we would ever know what to do with but other countries can't have many. We have tons of big businesses based here but all the parts and labor come from overseas, while all the profit gets put into our economy. Those countries are just getting screwed because no one invests back into their economy. Then when a U.S. billionaire puts his money in a swiss bank, everyone gets mad. I could think of plenty of other countries I would live in. Europe and Japan have some of the best engineering (my field) firms in the world. I wouldn't hesitate to move there if the opportunity arose.

There are lots of artists , even in Canada that are successful here , including being millionaires with little or no exposure in the US.

Take the Tragically Hip for example

I'm quite sure there are examples...many of them, from many countries.

I was speaking in general terms. And you would have to be ignorant or biased to disagree. I do not believe you are either.

Yep, and he was booed relentlessly when he performed at the grey cup half time show in Toronto.

I never said artist's being successful in the US market was not a boon to them , I said it is not a prerequsite to "success" as you suggested

That money that they send home that doesn't get taxed, is a mere teardrop in the ocean. If people really believe that that lost revenue is what will push us over the cliff they are wrong. GE for example pays 0 federal taxes, the NFL is a non profit organization. Get taxes from those 2 entities and you will add more revenue than any # of immigrants will during their entire lives.

Be honest though, most people that perform at the super bowl should be booed. Justin Timberlake, Black Eyed Peas, Beyonce this yr, Britney, 50 yr old Madonna, 90 yr old Rolling Stones....
