    So I went to wire my footwell lights today, and I tapped into the wires for the dome light so they would come on and off with the door. All went well, the lights worked like a charm for a while. However, at one point the 1A in-line fuse that I installed blew. Couldn't find any more 1A fuses but had a 1.8A fuse lying around. Same thing happened there. Anyone know why these would be blowing?

    Don't tap into the stock electrical system unless you are using relays.

    Get a bluesea fuse block and it will make life a lot better if you keep adding lights and other accessories. :)

    So would it be better to run an add-a-fuse for power to the LEDs and run the ground wire to the control wire on the dome light so the lights come on when the door is opened?

    Add-a-fuse still adds on to the stock electrical system.

    Don't get me wrong, LED's draw no amps. Still best practice is to use relays.

    Same here.. Everything I run has no connection into the stock electrical system in any way shape or form. This makes troubleshooting easier, as well if you have warranty and something dies Toyota can't blame it on your aftermarket stuff (already had this happen once).

    I don't even use the stock speaker wire that came with the truck, I ran all fresh 12g wire to everything.

    YES. Same here. If something goes wrong, I can trace my wiring and finger it out.

    Ran a couple of leds from the dash light connection down to the foot area so it'll come on when the headlights are on. Said fuck it with trying to get it to come on when the doors unlocked, the dome light lights the truck up decently enough anyways.
    Tomorrow I'm probably going to run a couple (using wago clamps FTW! :headbang:) more LEDs around the cup holder area and that back vent behind the center console.

    BTW thanks for that relay link, very informative.
