    I didn't have any luck in my new spot. There's too much deer sign, buck sign, and acorns still in there to not tag one before the season is over, though. I can't go again until Thursday so my dad is gonna go in there Tuesday and Wednesday evenin. It's really a 2 person spot, put one guy high on the ridge and one low on the point, so that's probably what we'll do Thursday evenin after he gets off work.

    Jan 1 is the last day here. I'll be in the star every Sunday evenin, Christmas morning, and New Year's Day, and then whatever random days off I have in between. So I basically have 8 or 9 chances left to hunt this season.

    I took the week before Thanksgiving off to hunt, because that seemed to be when the Rut was peaking. They just don't seem to move in December around here. After Thanksgiving, the season is basically over. You'll have a few stragglers still trying to breed a doe or 2, but that's about it. You just have to find food and hope they're hungry when you're there. The new spot I'm in has PLENTY of food. A ton of acorns left, for some reason. It's like they're just now finding that little spot in the woods.

    I've been making a casserole with axis,any venison will work.
    Bottom layer of sliced sweet potatoes with cinnamon and Brown sugar sprinkled on.
    Sliced carrots.
    Corn
    Green beans or any beans
    Venison browned in a skillet,broken up,spread evenly
    A sauce of tomatoes and spices browned in a skillet,onions if prefer browned also
    Put in oven at 350 for an hour,covered with foil
    Top with cheese if ya prefer
    Belly up!
