Cool, thanks. Haven't seen them yet, but I'm sure he will get to it eventually. He had to wait on us enought that day, I can wait this time.

I ski, live in Loveland too! I'll shoot you a PM, maybe carpool and whatnot if you're interested. The lady and I have been up every weekend to Breck/Keystone/A-basin area, and finally on Sunday at Breck we got some powder runs in.
The road up is plenty fine, 4 way highway going up and over Rabbit Ears (last pass before reaching Steamboat). If you leave from Loveland/Fort Collins area it's faster to go up through Poudre Canyon/Cameron Pass than to drive down I-70, go through Silverthorne, and up. Going through Poudre/Cameron pass is a more enjoyable drive too I think, plus there is TONS of backcountry up in Cameron Pass.

It's a shame they backed out of the Wheat Ridge location, Cabela's SCREWED everybody on that deal. A lake was to be built in front of the store to test drive boats too. The new Hwy. 58 to I-70 interchange is pretty cool though, and the land is still open.

Wasn't that one canceled because Cabela's wanted the city to build the roads to the store or exit from the highway and they wouldn't do it.

What's up guys! I've been off of TW for a while because I've been extremely depressed after I dislocated my shoulder and suffered a torn labrum on Nov. 26. But I'm four days removed from arthroscopic surgery and looking forward to becoming 100% again!

I missed this thread! Haven't been able to drive my Tacoma either. It's just sitting there...haha.

Really they are going to build one down here too? I was about to comment that if they are building that one off of 144th they might as well have built it in Wyoming :D until I saw your comment. Nice it will be near Lincoln and I-25.

That WR deal though did suck. I don't know all of the details but it looked like that facility would have been cool. But Cabela's did pull out of it during the economic slump so that might have something to do with it.

You should have been hanging out on this thread the entire time. You never would have gotten depressed. So much win in this thread. :)

That I did not hear or read about, must've missed that one. I worked at Coors for a bit (temp work) and Coors laid water pipe to that area to make that Cabela's lake a cooling pond for the brewery. I saw quite a bit of night work along Hwy. 58. I don't think Wheat Ridge or Jeffco could've done anything more other than build and stock the store for them. There was a lot of infrastructure improvements made to that area for that store.

True, Cabela's used that excuse, but wasn't it less than a year later they announced the two other stores opening? That left a bad taste in the involved mouths around here.

    EDIT: Found an article... http://yourhub.denverpost.com/arvad.../2C04eDEKjUjEgBNj4JW6hM-story?source=DPWidget

EDIT 2: I don't want to sound like I'm arguing or trolling, just telling about what I've learned of the situation.

Interesting read. Being in the retail industry in another fashion it sounds to me that Cabela's went through some sort of financial or internal change that halted the build originally. Then after the dust settled the company might have been infused with some capital which allowed them to go out and grow again. Just speculation but the company I worked for and the industry I am in does this quite often to stay afloat.

From their perspective they will do more business in those two locations then in the one in Wheat Ridge. But from a business partnering with the community aspect they shot themselves in the foot pretty good. They might have shot their entire foot off.

I can see that, and very bad timing on their part didn't help either. Stiff stipulations might come up with future location dealings (business idiot yapping here)
