Oooo I hope he does too. They could use a lil help in that area. I was surpised when he picked up the phone. I'm excited to hang out with those guys. Maybe I'll talk the motorcyclist into buying something with 4 wheels :anonymous:

I know I even offer to do it for free. He seems up to it but I just don't think they are used to doing it and allotting the time for it. Hopefully though no could make it sounds soooo much clearer and cleaner. But..oh well.

Hopefully ill get a chance to wheel with him. The Morrison jeep trail they did in episode 5 is 30 mins from my house haha wish I had know that.

No offense to anyone of the "expo" persuasion, but WTF is the deal with khaki clothing? Seriously. I look at pics from the Overland Expo and realize that I am clearly not fitting in with that crowd as I do not own any khaki clothing.

I enjoy overland travel and vehicle camping as much as the anyone but if it's a requirement to have my entire wardrobe changed to khaki to be a legit "overlander" then I'm out.

I'd guess it is a way to look professional, but not have to worry about ruining good clothes. Like with the Expedition Overland guys they are making a movie series and probably want to maintain/get sponsors so they need to keep it professional. Maybe this guy is representing a company when he goes out with his Jeep and needs to look professional as well to maintain a god rep for the company. Just a thought. I prefer jeans and a tshirt myself. haha

I know a lot of the guys who are vendors at the Overland Expo. For example, Paul May from Equipt Expedition Outfitters is a good friend and we give him crap all the time about the "dress code" amongst the 'expo' crowd. I get that the actual vendors are trying to look professional, but it's all the other participants and casual attendees and are decked out head to toe in Khaki as well like they won't be taken seriously otherwise. But for me it has just the opposite affect. I look at those guys or the guys that show up for trail runs fully 'khaki-ed out" and I have a hard time taking them seriously because they just seem like poseurs to me.

I fully understand that there is a lot of outdoor specific clothing that is "earthtones" and I know plenty of guys who are fully legit in their approach to overland travel and they have some of that clothing because that's what's available But it just isn't necessary.

Another example is Kurt Williams from Cruiser Outfitters. If you guys watched the recent webisode from the XOverland guys you catch a glimpse of Kurt early in the video when they were in Russia with the E7 team. Kurt is probably one of the most legitimate overland/vehicle campers out there with a true sense of adventure and exploration. It's not uncommon for him to be out camping on the trails for more than 100 days out of the year. Almost every weekend he is out there and its not just your little daytrip trail runs. But in the recent video from XOverland you see Kurt and he's still just rockin a t-shirt and "keepin it real" for lack of a better description. I have way more respect for a guy like that. Because I guarantee that a large percentage of guys that show up to the Overland Expo that might actually get out and 'camp' with their vehicles 3-4 times a year but claim to be 'overlanders' would have shown up in Kurt's spot on the E7 trip in full Khakis with monster egos like the are what it's alll about.

OK....I'm rambling. Sorry for the rant. I just think there is a whole lot of emphasis placed on "image" in the expedition community. That goes for trucks too. there are TONS of great products out there that make it so much easier to get out and explore. I'll be the first to tell you how much I enjoy a RTT and my ARB fridge. Makes life so much easier especially on longer trips. But I'll give big high-5's to the dude that just has a basic rig without all the super cool "expo" mods but isn't afraid to get out there and explore and push his limits. You guys that do that are what it's really about. Rock on my friends..........and I'll try not to be a douche with a RTT and fridge.........at least I won't feel like I have to wear khakis.

This I would believe! I hate the whole image thing... Just cause my rig is covered in chrome and looks pretty doesn't mean I won't wheel it, and just because my tires aren't wide doesn't mean it's not a "real" truck!

I haven't really followed the Overland scene though, so I didn't really know it carried the Khaki image. Most everything I have seen of it are professional ads and stuff, usually from Austrailia actually. haha I just assumed that was how they dressed down under;) haha

Walmart:D That is where I got my 2 person 7'x7' for like $15-$20.

    Lol yes, yes you should.

And as far as dress is concerned, I know Clay and those guys big sponsor is Ex Oficio so I'd bet they get some funding for sporting that gear. But yeah, when I go out, unless someone wants to pay me, I'll be wearing shorts and a hoody.

Yea that is a big sponsor for them Naples them make some cool gear..just way to pricey tho. Kinda like ski coats and snowboard stuff. It's all part of the "life style"

Screw that. I'm in college haha gas is the biggest concern for trips haha granted yes I do have a RTT..and a pretty capable rig more so then your normal college kid..but hell. I like to just fill the tank. Grab a couple sandwiches. The most basic other camp gear..hit the hills.

More of you bastards need to be by me so I have a buddy...to flip me back over..:anonymous: :D

And what the heck Adam..quoted me..then didn't say anything haha

    I should make a t shirt...I'm anti kaki..haha
