So does that mean the 2012 part fits previous model tacomas and solves the problem or only 2012s tacomas won't squeak and we are all doomed to drive around in our personal chirping hell? I've been putting off the work myself be everyone keeps telling me its a faulty part and the chirping always returns. Thanks for the legwork theboy12, rep!

I actually sanded mine down as well when I cleaned and regreased it. Might be getting a new one. Apparently the fan ending in 47 is the way to go...

Looks like I am out of warrantee... How much do these replacements go for? Is it worth it if it is just going to start chirping again?

You sure about that part number? Most recent Toyota OE blower motor for Tacoma is part # 87103-04043. I bought one just two months back.

Put 87103-04047 into google and you get only 2 results and that's someone joking about the part number at Toyota Nation back in February.

Put 87103-04043 into google and you get 1940 results.

    Just curious.

Had mine replaced under warranty tonight. Didn't even question it.

The service guy did say that when Toyota updates a part, they recall the earlier bad one... So you shouldn't find anything at a dealer other than the "43" part.

On my 2010 Tacoma I had the squeaky blower about a year ago and the dealership replaceced it a year ago. The squeak has now come back as loud as ever so I went to the dealership this morning (Fucillo-Grand Island,NY). After waiting two hours they tell me that I have the latest fan design and there is nothing they can do with me.

I protested and said that is not right, the part is bad and I want it replaced and the service manager tells me that Toyota will not replace it a second time. I tell him that is unacceptable, he tells me that things make noise. I tell him again that is unacceptable and he tells me that I can call the 800 number.

Does this sound right at all ?

Bought the truck as certified pre-owned, and it came with a 20k mile 2 year warrenty.

And yes the 2012 model fits previous years, mine is an 05.

I'll take a picture of the box it came in. Edit: The part does end in 43 see the above post. I examined and took pictures of both of the parts. The newer stock is made in China (previous model made in Korea, I'll post pics later) The difference is the bearing, and top nut from what I'm told, look it up and do research is what I recommend (as I did not produce the part, and I am not a Toyota tech) . According to the shop guy this is what changed when they updated the part in 12. The obvious thing to do would be to look for the new design with the nut on top. Look at the side by side picture.

I have no squeeks at this time. I'll repost after its been in there awhile.

    Cheers,
    -Jon

    I'd call the number.

Tnx to the write-up from Ballon78 I took my noisy fan motor apart and cleaned it. I also removed the resistor and examined it for overheating/burn marks. The motor is wicked easy to remove. All fan speeds work now, but I still have that "ticking at low speeds (can't hear it at high speed because the noise of the air masks the ticking). I may need to buy the newer fan motor 87103-04043 to resolve this annoyance once and for all.

It is also covered under warranty and there was a "recall" and it is a free fix at your dealership even not on warranty.

Mine was replaced yesterday under warranty at 35795 with part number ending in "43". Service rep came out and said "yes, it is covered, there is a TSB out and they are directed to replace any that are making noise". So for any of you out of warranty, it may not hurt to ask.

Not in my experience. I had to buy a new one. Wasn't even covered under the extended warranty.

Why don't you check the PN of your blower. If it is indeed the -43 part, then there's truly nothing the dealer can do.

RockAuto sells the TYC blower for $35 with lifetime warranty:

I guess I don't get this. If everyone else is saying that the -43 works great and the one they put in for me worked great for 10 months and now is making the noise isn't it possible I have a bad -43 fan ? Why shouldn't it be replaced under warrenty ?
