Retrofitting has been going on since before it was popular on TW. Sharing any tricks of the trade he picked up along the way isn't his obligation, however he's a nice guy to do business with and if you ask him any questions that you may have about the process I'm sure he would be more than willing to lend you a hand. He is an authorized distributer for TRS, I'm sure he is using all quality stuff as stated in the OP and get's a tip or two from the guys at TRS if he needs anything as well. Do some homework and figure out how to do it best yourself. You can start here: http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/forum.php?

Hey man, if you're just going to call people out and be unfavorable start your own thread. It is impolite to crap in other people's. PM the guy if you have beef with him.

Wow. What happened to this thread guys? I'm away for one day LOL. Let's keep this on point. I wouldn't mind some of these off topic posts being deleted.

As for opening up the headlights, there's 2 methods I use - oven or heat gun. If you want to know more info, a PM would be appropriate.

I did not read through all the posts I know this is not the place for legal advice. But what is the legality of a retro fit in regards to getting an inspection. I have a friend here in Texas and he has factory HID's and when he went to get an inspection they were not going to pass his car until they verified it was factory HIDs. This was a few years ago, is this going to cause a failed inspection that any one is aware of?

If it's not from the factory, its illegal. At least that's how it is in CA.

With regards to state inspections, I would say it would depend on the inspector. Remember, this is still not a legal mod. The projectors are not DOT approved and the vehicle did not come with them originally. Some inspectors might not notice it, some might.

Well, got my lights, installed, aligned, etc... Everything went smooth and I wrote up a how to for everyone. I tried to be very detailed and I just wrote it up at 11 pm, so I am sure I made some mistakes or left something out. Burt let me know if you notice anything I missed.

    Hope this helps!

    Hello ambiguous.
I have a 2013 Black Taco and am looking to get almost the identical setup to Datsik's Retrofit and just had a few questions for you..
I have absolutely NO experience working with headlights and was wondering if I want to install white LEDs for my parking lights/DRLs is that pretty simple to do once you ship me a completed retrofit set with the amber lights in it or does this require any addtl wiring??
Were Datsik's completed retrofit lights his original OEM lights or the Aftermarket option you offer? and is there any discernable difference between them??
Also, as far as the setup for the angel eyes, do you have any recommendations/preferences for setting those up to turn on with parking lights or DRL's...
Finally, I am currently saving up for this mod, so I will likely be ready to pull the trigger early 2013.. do you foresee yourself still offering this service at that time or is it something where I need to place my order by a certain cutoff date?
Thank you in advance for your reply and for offering this service to TW members as I'm likely NOT the only one afraid to do this type of Mod without seriously messing up my lights...

IMO, I would say that they are about the same. Aftermarket housings tend to leak and fog, but, Burt does an awesome job at sealing them nice and tight. I mean, in all reality, both are made out of plastic. They only cost more because it's a "Toyota" part, but if you can swing the extra money for peace of mind, go for OEM.

    BTW, I opted for aftermarket.
