I vote polarized... I am personally a huge fan of Smith lenses and frames. They're significantly less expensive than a lot of brands, but have spectacular lenses. I have a few pairs right now. My favorite lenses right now are their polarized brown gradient, with regular polarized brown coming in a close second. The gradient version has changing tint levels from the top to bottom of the lenses, so it makes it very easy to go from brighter locations to darker areas without removing the glasses.

I use these glasses for every day use, driving, and they make a huge difference when in the snow or looking at water on a lake or river, they really help with the glare.

The polarized lenses do sometimes interfere with some digital screens, but never with depth perception. The screen I have the worst luck with always seems to be the stock jbl display screen in my truck, but Some screens are easier than others.

My next pair of glasses will be Costas, with amber 580g lenses. Great all around sunglasses. I currently have Costas with the 400g, with the blue mirror finish, and they are great as well.

Edit- And yes, polarized is a must

Polarized Oakleys for sure. The difference it makes is quite significant. There is the annoying 'rainbow' on glass, but at least for me its not that noticeable and you get used to ignoring it.

    a lot lol
I have the Costa 580G Harpoon's in the green mirror lens. I wore them for about 10hrs and forgot they was on my face, best glasses i've ever had. I would honeslty let him try some on, glasses are different for everyone. Its not really a universal thing IMO.

Exactly the ones I have. I do alot of kayak fishing in the warmer months, and the green flash were designed for fresh water fishing. They are the best sunglasses I've ever owned, bar none. And War Eagle.

    Stock... For now...
Either go with a costa del mar 580 glass lense in any particular frame, since the quality of the lense and polarization is unbelievable, or... (I'm kicking myself for saying this) Maui jim. I would say Maui Jim because of their type of polarization. It's called bipolarization, and what that is, is polarization on the top and bottom of the lense, which directs all sunlight away from your eyes. As far as quality and polarization, the two brands, Costa and Maui are paramount. I don't think there is a brand out there that offers the same quality of lense, frame AND polarization as the 2 companies
