You should totally buy a diesel Jeep. You save a fortune not doing mods because all of your money goes to repairs.

The Jeep is fine. The transmission still shudders at lock up in 5th gear, but it is not bad. I just spend too much time on the CRD forum hearing horror stories about how they constantly need attention. Kinda got me freaked out. I think i need to drink more to calm down.

It smooths out over 65 mph. Thing is great at highway speeds. I got 26mpg on the way back from Beech Creek.

I wouldn't get too worried about it if the shudder isn't too bad. I have owned a few Chrysler products and always heard stories about the trans problems. 2 of them I went well over 100,000 miles with no problems. If it does get worse beer always makes thing better.:D

The Lost Jeeps forum (the main forum for the diesel Jeeps) is full of people saying that htese things always break down and you constantly have to work on them. Bunch of downers they are. Either this car is a real turd or those guys need some depression meds. They make me nervous.

I really have not any issues with it. The transmission aside,I put a thermostat in it , unplugged the MAF (shuts down the EGR system) and it runs great.

You should see the FRS/BRZ forums. People are returning their cars, invoking lemon laws, even trading them in at a loss because of a fucking chirp that sounds like you have a cricket under the hood. They are convinced that that combined with a few hundred people who have gotten fairly serious CELs (which seem to have a proper fix now) indicates the car is a ticking time bomb and they are too scared to keep it.

I hear a lot of "Don't trust it " and "I hope you like getting your hands dirty". They all call wheels rims too.

They are probably depressed that they own Jeeps.

I have always like the Jeep Liberty for the diesel motor option and the compact size. There one running around down here with a lift and some wheels and tires that looks good. Best of luck with it.

Thanks. It's all a learning process. I just need to stop listening to them.

The Jeep has been great thus far. Good on fuel and comfy. I prefer driving it over the Tacoma for certain. I do miss haveing a lifted truck though. I was eyeing up a 01 4runner for $1000 yesterday. The TG SAS kit looks decent and doable.

Not in the budget right now. The All-Poo kit is great, SAS with coilovers, but really expensive.
