What is a good product to spray on the bottom of the truck to help with corrosion?
    Also,
What about a car that has been sitting for while, what is a good product to spray on the bottom of that?

    Thanks.

A lot of guys here are using fluid film. I believe a fluid film representative was giving out free samples to members here a little while ago, not sure if the offer is still valid though.

Can anyone recommend a product to get rid of this, if it even possible? My 4Runner is looking BAD!

Yeah, I know that. I'm just wondering if there is anything type of compound I can use to maybe make it look at least a LITTLE better....

Not really. You need a new paint job. The clear coat is peeling off.

Decent polisher at a great price. Pricing will only last for a few hours. Free shipping.

    Working on it
I have been happy doing the truck by hand by this guide. I never thought I would spend so much on car care products. :)

I jumped on the Griots Garage 6 inch Random Orbital Polisher. Do the products I have accumulated for doing the truck by hand (scratchx, colorx, NXT tech wax, ext...) still work with the polisher?

Any suggestions for pads for the polisher?

I was kind of hesitant to buy this as the process on this thread worked so well, just bought the polisher to make the process a little easier, could use some suggestions for the first time I use it.

With the NXT use a blue or red pad. Either work well.
Scratch X is a hand application product.

Depends on what you want to remove before a recommendation as to what to purchase.

Polishes are a lot like waxes but cost a little more so finding a polish that works for you is ther tougest part of the battle.

Lots of detailers use the Megs 105 and 205 polishes as a 1-2 step. They also use megs pads.

Personally I like Menzerna polishes. A great starter is the Menzerna Super Intensive Polish and an orange pad.

You may also want to buy a white and yellow pad as well. I like the Lake Country CCS pads myself.

COngrats on the polisher purchase. Welcome to the addiction.

Whats everyones opinion on using the $2 car washes wax? I know everyone hates those car washes for the washes, because of the scratching, but if I was to wash my truck everyone two weeks at home, and then take it to get a spray wax, would that be okay? At least until the weather warms up.

It takes to long for the wax to dry.

I wouldn't. A nice sealant before it gets bitter should hold you till spring. I can spray wax my truck in under 1/2 hour. I would rather suffer trough that than the car wash. At least I know what I'm getting.

Spray wax as in a do it yourself spray wax?
I've been doing it by hand, and the waxing itself would take 5 hours (until i get better at it) for me to do it in this weather.

I like this stuff. It goes on and off pretty easy in my opinion. I enjoy detailing my truck so it doesn't feel like too much work.

Does anyone have any recommendations for washing microfiber rags? Is the microfiber detergent necessary? I think pinnacle makes one. Are there any common laundry detergents that are safer than others?

I'm also in the market for a DA polisher. I'm leaning towards ol trusty Porter Cable. Does anyone have any experience with it or other brands out there now? Thanks in advance,

I have always used the Pinnnnacle product and tossed in a cuo of white distilled vinegar with the rinse cycle. Detergents are supposed to ruin them but I have never washed mine with a detergent.

So, I live in a very salty environment and when it's windy I end up with a salty truck.
Between washes I like to rinse it to get the salt off, but then end up with water spots because I don't want to dry it and risk swirls and scratches because it hasn't been washed.

    What to do?

Also, just noticed last time I washed that I'm getting some stains from Poinciana leaves that fall this time of year. What's the best for removing them? (they didn't come off with regular wash and spray wax).
