What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Finally got around to doing my cup holder tabs. Made it out of double stacked mouse pad.

Also washed it and took the mudflats off.

That's a good point. Maybe I should try out the solid motor mounts. Not like its permanent if I don't like it.

 

I have a dark green 1997 tacoma single cab 2.7 liter. I have added many mods including a 2.5" suspension lift, 31x10.50x15 mickey thompson tires, 15x10 dick cepek dc-2 wheels, black nerf bars, bug shield, window visors, window tint, black toolbox, k&n fipk air intake, and some other mods on the interior. I am looking for suggestions on ways to improve the looks and/or performance of my tacoma. If you have any suggestions please let me know.

 

First mod..get new rims or tires. You shouldn't be running a 10" wide rims on 10.5" wide tires.

Then loose the nerd bars..sliders man

Get a magnaflow muffer then a sc and deck plate mod for performance

Bit more importantly..do what you want. It's your truck not ours.

because you will break the tailshaft off the transmission when it stays put but the motor torques to the right

 

I mainly got the 10" wheels with 10.5" tires to give it an offset kind of look. Is it bad to be running them like that?

I probably will look around for some nice sliders and maybe some skid plates

And as far as the magnaflow muffler I will probably get the magnaflow catalytic converter instead because the stock one needs to be replaced

 

Yea you shouldn't be as you more at risk of popping a bead.

For offset look you just need a less back spaced wheel. Not a wider wheel.

 

I will probably just wait until the tires wear out that I have and put a 2" body lift and go up to a 33x12.50 tire

Yea I'd skip the BL personally. People run them but I don't like how they look. You can fit 33x12.5s will a little cutting and hammering.

 

I already have a suspension lift, do you have any suggestions for looks or performance for my truck?

 

I hear they make them ride a lot more rough too

Looks are up to you man. Personally i think body lifts are dangerous. As for performance id try to trade out your wheel tire combo for something a bit lighter. 4cyl tacos no likey heavy wheels and tires. Listen very closely to blackdogs suggestions. He is somewhat of an expert.

 

If you plan of wheeling your truck i would not suggest a body lift. It rides like shit, you might get some movement and cause some broken pucks. Plus your raising your center of gravity which may increase your odds for flipping. I recently removed my 3" body lift and it drives a whole lot better now. Plus it looked like shit.

If you dont plan on wheeling your truck, then sure get a 1" or 2" body lift. But just make sure you torque them every now and then. Oh ya... and get some gap guards to hide that hideous gap between the frame and cab
