I'm actually considering a handgun, I kind of want to get a shotgun first because I can use it for home defense as well as hunting.. the mossberg 500 for instance has a package with a short home defense barrel and a conventional hunting barrel which i think would be ideal.

If you do look at handguns look at the sig sp2022, there very good pistols for the money (about $450), my uncle has 2 a 9mm and a 40, they're pretty accurate and very comfortable for how small they are.

    a 410?
The first gun I hunted deer with was a old double barrel 16 gauge with OO buck in one barrel and #4 in the other.
The first deer I got was with a 243, spine shot.

yeah. i would like to have a barrel that has a changeable choke. and gun will be OD green or camo. i like a gun with wood stocks. they are very nice to look at and shoot. but i don’t like wood stocks as much for hunting because i like squirrel hunting in a light rain.(they tend to move around more and the rain hides all the noise you make walking around.) wood changes a lot with tempter changes. like if driving and truck is nice and warm, than get out to hunt and it’s like 35 or 40 and light rain. synthetic stocks don’t expand and contract with temp changes like wood and if you take care of them the same will last longer.

You can get plugs that you stick in the end of the magazine tube and it limits the capacity to 3 rnds, it's as simple as unscrewing the end, sticking the wood or plastic piece in there and putting the cap back on.

    OO buck is illegal? Why?

I almost got my first deer with the 16 gauge but it was just out of range.

just is. you can use slugs for dig game but not 00 buck.(at least i’m 99.99% sure) lol. i’m almost 100% sure i think it’s just late and i’m kinda tired and over thinking it)

edit: i almost got my first deer with my 410 and slugs, but it was a little out of range as well.

I'm pretty sure you just plug the magazine? I don't think it's very hard. I've only ever shot O/U's so I don't really know. But I'm pretty sure this is true

my shotgun, rem 1100, has always had a plug in it and can only hold 3 rounds at a time. A plug is much cheaper than a new gun .

just go to lowes and get a wooden dowl rod, cut to length, and insert in your mag tube.

We have a regulation for deer also. I think it's 3 for waterfowl and 5 shots for deer.
