Have you had any sidewall blowouts with the DTs?

Forgive my ignorance but when you all talk about the mtr are you talking about the Goodyear ones with Kevlar?

How do they compare as far as toughness goes? I've cut two sidewalls in the KM2s and cut one in the tread bad enough that it went flat in about a minute. I'm already committed to going with MTRs in a 305, I'm just curious if they will be any tougher...

    Soon...
I'll be going to 35x12.50/15 MTRs I a while. Got a coworker that has them on his work truck and he likes em. I have 285x70/17 Duratracs on my work truck and I've put 28000+ miles on them, i like em but ive had to replace 2 of em due to sidewall punctures. My coworker is still on his same tires.

Wsh I could do 35s but I don't want to have to make all the changes required to make em fit. I think with my bumper I should be able to do 33s with no other cutting or mods. Now I just have to decide on tires. I like the the km2 for the tall skinny effect, but the taco is my DD and I have a potentially icy commute to work. The mtr seems like the sound will drive me nuts, and they are effing expensive. I've been thinking duratracs, but now I'm hearing a lot about sidewall punctures. Are those people getting punctures using the thickest sidewall available (load range E, I think)? I was set until I started adding all this new info on this thread, which seems to have become a tire discussion thread.

Post more Moab pics to get back on that topic!

I like this one. It was taken on the way back to moab from doing Elephant Hill. Taken by one of the other Ben's.

That Is a sweet picture, I can't wait to get out there. I may not have all the mods I need to do the trails I want to do but the way I figure it, there will be trails of all levels with other people who are looking to go do them with me and great times camping and drinking. Even if I don't go all hardcore on the trails, we will still see some great country and meet a bunch of you fuckers that I spend so much time with on this addictive, time-sucking site called TacomaWorld.

Get your sliders on and you will be plenty capable up to a 5/6 rated trail. Above that and it will depend on the risk you're willing to take and you're ability to wheel harder stuff without a locker.

I'm gonna give a big shout out to the guys from New Mexico that ran Trifecta with me last year. Several of them ran with no lockers and minimal armor. I think we only needed a strap a few times. Awesome day. With a little driver skill you can do a lot without lockers.

    Open diff goodness on Trifecta

I already said this to Bob and Jace last year, but I really feel strongly that the Trifecta run needs to be limited to 10 trucks, maybe 12 at the absolute most. It is a LONG day on the trail even moving at a good pace, and that's if you don't have any issues. Any more trucks than 10 just slows everything down. If there are more people interested in running it, then it will have to be run on other days.

As it sits right now, I'm willing to lead it on one of the days (probably Thursday) if Bob and Jace need me to. I'm sure there are others that know the trail and could lead other groups on Friday/Saturday.

But just to give you an idea, I ran it with one other friend a couple years ago and we hauled ass. Didn't stop to spot each other except for a couple times and just blazed through as fast as we could with two trucks and it still took us 7 hrs. I think last year it took us 10hrs and we didn't have any breakdowns except for btnewmans busted CV.

I just want people aware of what they're in for on that trail. It's a FULL day no matter how you cut it.

yea i was just thinking about the group size issue with trifecta...seems like there is a growing interest on the trail, so we'll have to keep an eye on that and look into multiple groups/days to split it up

trails like hells and seven mile, larger groups are quite so bad because the shorter length/less number of obstacles requiring spotting, but this will be limited in the size going

preferably all groups should be limited to 10 or less truck on all trails...for ease on the trail leaders and to keep the groups moving smoothly
