How long before LED light bar prices drop

I do a lot of backpacking and snowshoeing in the winter and am amazed at how much LED headlamps have improved in the last 2 years. When they first came out they were just giant flood lights that wouldn't go farther than like 50 feet down a trail. Now I have one that will shoot almost 100 yards. So I think the LED bars will definitely get there as well. Unfortunately, I'm sure it will come with a very high price tag when it happens.

Ive got a 1800 lumen led headlamp on order right now for night time mtn biking. $32! shipping is taking a while bc its comming from China...

 

The ability to project is related to emitter size. The already put out as much or more light compared to HID. And to say $200 bucks is too much for lights... yeah if $5000 is too much to spend on your truck. Also the 885 springs and that add a leaf are too much when you can buy spacers and blocks lol.

 

haha holy crap. Mine is 200 and works amazing, I can't imagine what 1800 lumens mounted to your head will be like, lol.

To answer the OP's question......

They should drop. Light Emitting Diodes are cheap. Wiring is relatively cheap and is wired by foreigners. Almost all components are made in China. I would say all but someone would prove me wrong. The real differences are the reflectors, lens, housings, etc. I think demand is driving the cost of the large light bars. You can quickly find knock off brands of Rigid at a fraction of the price. I am not knocking Rigid. Their reflector is the real key to their success. It is a limited market so many suppliers don't recognize it as profitable. The few suppliers due to lack of competition from larger corporations are given an increase in demand. Demand with lack of supply and competition creates an inflated price. I would bet it costs more for shipping than actual parts from foreign lands. Once again, I like the rigid lights and I am a huge fan of capitalism. Rigid, get it while you can.

 

Well as much as I like what I've seen from Aurora... it's a no go. Hopefully Blitzpros hold up moderately well to rocks and stuff... I'll never beat the shit out of em like Aurora does but... road debris and submersion etc...

My buddy went through the same thing. He's been trying to get some friends (myself included) to get in on it so he can get a 40'' and a few duallys but it just hasn't worked out. It's kind of hard to get people to spend the money on these, even when they are marked down a lot from what Rigid charges.

 

This price list, plus a possible added Christmas promo... I think there would be a good amount of people interested in this. Those prices are really, really good for the light output they're listing...

I'm in no way bashing Rigid, they obviously make great lights... however, its worth pointing out, that from Aurora, you could get lights, seemingly very similar to the Dually D2, that appear to be quite well made at a price of $580.00 USD for a quantity of TEN...

Ten Dually D2's, at the individual price is $1999.90. Even at the pair price, (10) D2's is roughly 1900.00. (You could get 3 - D2 lights for $578.00 plus tax - 1 pair, 1 single.)

You said they have a minimum order of 10 pieces, any kind; Do you mean you have to get 10 of each model you order, or a minimum of 10 lights of any variety?


Even if the it becomes hard to get a group of people together to buy this quantity, considering the number people, on TW alone, that are willing to spend several hundred dollars on lights. I would imagine that if someone were to buy a quantity of ten lights from Aurora, keep what they want, and sell the remainder on here, you could almost certainly break even on the cost of lights sold (perhaps even turn a small profit).

I like mine for rural driving but I definitely went overkill for what I use my truck for...

I tell you what though, when I'm on a dark back road, with all my lights on it's like having the sun at your back. I can see deer coming for miles

The okled 2x2 is 16w - 1280 lumen for $50.00.

Although I do see the advantage of only buying one vs. 10...

It wouldn't be bad for someone wanting to buy in bulk then sell them for more to make a few bucks.

 

I went with the OKLED 2X2's ordered them in the morning and they shipped same day. I'll tell you guys how the install and overall quality are, once i get them.

Their prices are too hard to ignore.

Has anyone done the underneath lighting with LED? What do you need?

 

That's excellent. I want lights for that, but also for night wheeling in the desert. We're pretty open out here. Plus the fucking cows. Black cows, black night, black roads.

 

He told me you could mix and match, any style light, just 10 different "pieces". I'm not sure shipping was factored in there and then I don't know much about customs. I thought if I could order two lights, if shipping wasn't prohibitive I'd chance customs but with that many lights? I've no idea. Seemed more hassle than it's worth. I'll agree though they seem like superb lights for a great price point. I wish I could buy some.
