Responsibility will goes miles and miles. I for one, and am not scared to admit this, are not comfortable around guns. I've shot a couple times (jason can attest to this), but I didn't grow up around firearms. Not saying Im scared of them, just not as comfortable as most of my friends.


I heard on the news that our lovely Gov wants to possibly limit large capacity mags. Because you know someone with a sawed off shotgun holding 6 slugs at a time can't do damage

A state ban doesn't matter when someone can hop into a different state and pick up hi-cap mags legally and bring them back. Some people.

This is ridiculous. It's an issue of domestic terrorism being on the rise rather that the capacity of a magazine. I can reload my XDM in just over a second. Giving me ten more rounds under that law. Limiting the capacity is about as smart as saying we should limit tracks on rap albums to ten tracks only any more gangsta songs would cause more shootings. Only takes one fuckin bullet to kill someone.

 

Yup. Obviously hi-cap mags aren't all they are cracked up to be. 60 rounds and ONLY 3 hits?! That's an unbelievably bad shot, especially for a crowded area. Thank God he was a bad shot though, but that's an insanely miserable ratio. That would get you shit talked off xbox live so damn fast it would make your head spin.

Sooooo..... In a slight reaction to the mall shooting and possible new regulations coming down the tube I am looking for some advice. I had planned to purchase both a rifle and a handgun when I graduate from OSU (firearms in a fraternity don't mix) this spring but my time tables may have been moved forward so as to avoid tighter regulations and a bigger pain in the ass if regulations are implemented. I am interested in getting a rifle for fun (pop cans and fruit out in the woods) and not for hunting right away as I have no idea where I will be living one year from now, I know a .22 will be the best choice for cost of ammo and what not but I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion on a particular .22 or some other rifle that would fulfill this role. Also as far as a handgun is concerned I am looking at mobility and stopping power as it will be a concealed when the paperwork goes through. I'm thinking a 9mm or a .40 but don't really have a solid reason behind either... thoughts?

 

His gun kept jamming as per witnesses. Must have been using .223 UMC reloads from Bi-mart in his Ar.

 

Can't go wrong with a Ruger 10/22. Pretty much the staple for .22 rifles.

Nice I am a Kappa Sig from WSU. I remember the debates we had about guys having their guns in the house. More of a "Don't ask, don't tell" policy for us. As long as they were unloaded, hidden, and had a lock on them we were okay

 

every house has a few of those, shotguns and hunting rifles.... I personally just dont want to have one in the house based upon the number of people and random clowns that come through the house to party.

Very smart. I know that you can store ~some~ guns at the 'gun club' near the air force whatever building near Kerr, but I don't like the idea of the school holding my guns. Maybe find a gun club?

Anyway, I think I'm finding the difference in ammo sizes to be a smaller issue. I talked to a guy at a gun shop who said that rounds anymore these days can all be bought in a good power defense round, and it's more a personal feel. I think I may have said this a few posts back, but
9mm is going to have the least recoil and feel light
40 is going to have a snappy feel
45 is going to have a heavy, slow, recoil. Sort of feels like firing a 40 in slow motion
38/357 is for revolvers

I was stuck between 40 and 9 as well. I already have a 40, so it would be only one type of ammo to buy... but 9 is cheaper. In the end, I think I'm going 9 because I'm a bit better shot, it's comfier, the price, and you carry more rounds.

Best thing is to go to a place that rents guns. My dad recommends, 'The Place to Shoot' in Portland (cheesy name, huh?).

If you can wait for christmas, we could maybe throw together a shooting trip (I only have the Ruger and some .40s, someone else would have to produce the rest, )

 

Definetly understand that one. I wasn't a fan of the firearms in the house.


Will OSU hold your firearms for you? I know WSU wanted all students to check their firearms in

 

Got my bumps installed. Going to try em out tomorrow. Quality is pretty good.

 

Nice. I put my order in yesterday. Found out today they don't have the mounting hardware so it will be atleast a week.

Where/when are you testing them out?

 

I just found various speed bumps and curbs around the neighborhood.
