Call DMZ Tim first. I always recommend people to shop and call Tim and he usually gets the best deal (from the return feedback ive heard). He's next to TC so maybe he passes the savings from just picking up the kit directly from the shop.

Between the two, I could not agree with you more (although secretively I like the look of some of the Camburg stuff! :) ). :) In the last year, I have toured at least a dozen off-road suppliers/manufacturers. I have run a number of operations for a what is now Boeing and was a VP of another Corona company (was Corona's largest employer when I worked there) and Total Chaos is certainly one of the off road suppliers that have impressed me the most. I guess I would say they are focused. :) Pat is certainly a stand up guy.

okay so im getting new axles. im going the route of using the tundra axles. i have manual hubs, so i know i need to do a little bit of modifications to the axle...
    a couple questions,
1- what year tundra do the axles need to be for?
2-according to http://www.trailslesstraveled.com/article/off-road-solutions-tundra-cv-axles/.. it says i need to........ "In order to safely and reliably achieve the full 13” of travel available with the Total Chaos kit, the Tundra inner CV’s need to be modified. The stock Toyota Inner CV boot attaches to a reduced diameter ring, this is where the interference takes place. In order to create more clearance and allow the inner CV to fully articulate, the inner CV boot retaining surface needs to be cut off. A new larger diameter Porsche CV boot (available from Kartek , PN: KTKBAT101) can then be attached to the outer surface of the inner CV."

what is the inner cv boot retaining surface?
so the only things i need for this are just the tundra axles, amd the porsche cv boot? and just so i understand correctly, this modification to the axles are to only put on different boots, right?

    Lots of expensive shit
You have to cut the lip off that the cv boot clamps to. The new boot will clamp over the main body of the cv itself.

You will have to put the Tacoma out cv on the axle to keep manual hubs.

    2000-2006 tundra axles

    thanks!!
is any other modifications needed to put the tacoma outer cv on the tundra shaft?
so im replacing the inner boot with the porche 930s, and putting the tacoma stock outer cvs on the shaft. am i missing anything?

and is replacing the inner boot necessary? i have the old style camburg ball joint kit, so i wont be pulling more than 12 inches of travel.

I would cycle it first. Camburg claims you dont have to modify the inner cv with their kit. As far as I know the tacoma outer should go right on the axle

    2nd gen conversion.

No, but I'm trying to get my ducks in a row. Since my roommate moved out at the beginning at the month I don't have as much fun money as I had planned for with Christmas and vacation. I make enough to pay all my bills and such and have some free cash but not like I did. So clip is going to buy more truck parts to get it ready for the sale.

So on that note if any Local guys looking for a room to rent let me know. I'm sure I have the nicest pad for someone my age.

okay, so just to make sure im thinking correctly. the modification to the inner CV, they are only talking about replacing the boot? or the actual CV itsself..
    sorry for the stupid questions.

    ...too much shit to list.

I used the 930 bates style over CV boots. I got mine from kartek.

    http://www.kartek.com/product/DriveT.../930Boots.html

You will have to grind off the original boot lip from the inner CV.

Take a look towards the middle of this article. It outlines the process:
    http://www.off-road.com/trucks-4x4/p...roject669.html

Here's my inner boots after the swap:

That's funny Camburg told you that? The same Camburg that told me that they do the entire Rubicon with a 2WD truck!? lol Or that stock LCAs NEVER fail!? lol that one? :)

Just for the record, the taco tripod type cv sucks compared to a real CV - I want to someday have 930s as my inners but I dont have the lathe I'd need to have to complete the task! :) ...or the 2k that RVC wants for theirs.
