Tint over tint is not a good idea. It doesn't bond as well as tint on glass.

I agree 100% with Ryan. Tint over tint is not the best idea. As for how dark that would be, it would be around 7%. (tint is measured based on how much light is let in, not filtered out, so 20% of 35% = 7% of the light will be allowed to pass)

some people like to see out good at night. OP is in NC not on an island.

OP i would just have them take off the 35 and put 20% on. 20% is almost a perfect match to what the back is, i think it’s just a little bit lighter.

i’m going to do 15% on the front doors, and 35% on the back door and the back glass over the privacy glass.

I can see out fine at night, our nights aren't any "lighter" than anyone else's.

no. put if you live in the city more there is more street lights. i don’t have any good lights out side my house. and the road i live on only has like a total of 5 street lights for like over 5 miles. when there is no moon i can be 15 feet from my truck and can hardly see it. some areas are lighter than others.

edit: and i don't it gets quite as hot where he lives as it does where you are.

First things first, if you want new tint go get the exisiting tint removed first before you do anything else.

Put 20% on all sides and back then 35% on the full windsheild it'll make the tint look darker

Same here, I live well away from any real city. Very very few street lights, even fewer stop signs or traffic lights. Guess I just like my dark windows lol.

Itd be around 7%...i have 35% over 35%...when calculated its about 12% but i really dont think it is that dark...I have 5 on back and sides and 5% tint strip thats dark and cant see in but my fronts you can during the day time some so i know it isnt quite that dark. But yeah once you get dark tint youll love it...blocks all the sun out and no one can see you! only downside is backing out...ive had mine for several weeks but used to it now

And you guys don't get tickets for that dark? When I lived in Texas if you had anything that even LOOKED darker than 35%, or ANY full tint on windshield you got pulled over. Florida was pretty tight on their tint rules also.

Very lucky! When I was a state inspector for Texas, one of the steps we had to take was to verify no tint was below the AS-1 line, and we had a tinting tool that we would place over the side windows that measured tint level. If either were a fail, we used a permanent sharpie to mark the back of the inspection sticker, and were required to fail the inspection.
