The point of derping them is partially that it is easy but also that you can just take it off later. So no, putting it on your badges, then taking it off later if the potential buyer doesn't like it won't hurt your resale value.

I was skeptical about this stuff at first, but after doing it I'm impressed with how well this stuff holds up. I don't have a Tacoma anymore ( :( ) but you still get the jest of it.

This stuff is pretty good. I'm thinking about dipping my wheels, but I want the solid black sidewall and I'd have to flip them around. So don't feel like paying for that right now.

Back when I worked at discount tire and some guy wanted the white lettering of the tires to be on the outside and in black because it was different from the black lettering (I think the white was just an outline of the letters and the black had the entire letter sticking out) my manager just used black spray paint. No need to use plasti dip and regular paint might hold up better.

How did you do this? I wanted to dip mines and this is definitely the best I've seen on stock wheels.

I thought about doing that but I was afraid the paint over the white lettering would be noticeably a different shade of black than the tire.

Just use a matte black. Once you drive around for a while it will all fade in if it is off color. Don't mask off the letters, just spray them and it will all kind of blend.

So you're saying actually spray paint the whole tire sidewall?

You don't have to do the whole sidewall, just where the white is. Since the tire and the paint are both black the overspray will blend it in. After a little bit of driving it should blend in even more.

Did the wheels without taking them off, trash bags around the brakes.
Worked well and give it a good military kind of look.

Did you have any trouble with the paint dripping?

Nah no issues with dripping at all. I did roughly 5 to 6 coats on each wheel..give or take.

The key is just to not over due it on the spraying. Go 50% transperancy on the first coast. Then from there every 10 minutes or so I would just do a light coating.

As we know the more coats the better but it also makes it so much easier to do.

Being I did sprayed them with the wheels on I am only thinking they might get a little banged up next go around for an oil change and tire rotation but that might be the signal it is better to take the wheels off and do them the "correct" way.
