This really bothers me. I am 5'11" and weigh aboubt 190. I find my 2012 Tacoma door panel sticks out way too far and I will need a knee replacement should I continue driving this truck. Does anyone else feel the location of the window /door switches are poorly located ???? I would like to modify the door panel and move the switches to behind the cup holder in the center console. Anyone done this ??? I traded my Tundra Limited and downsized into the Tacoma. Am I spoiled or does anyone else have a sore knee and uncomfortable drivers seat???

Train yourself to put your left foot on the dead pedal.

I hated the center console mounted power window switches on my old HHR, and for the Jeep Liberty. Out of all the cars I have seen, I can only think of the door where should the power windows should be. The power mirrors, I am a bit spoiled that it was easy to find on almost any car but the Taco. I use it a lot when parking.

I am the same height and similar weight and no problems even after driving some 700 miles on a trip. Use the dead pedal, it's amazing how bad a car is with out one, with a auto trans.

Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
OP, this is not a very common complaint that comes up, have you adjusted the way you sit? Either by moving the chair forward or back, use the pedal as others have mentioned. You are about the same build as me and I don't have that problem. Good luck, and ignore the posts that don't do anyone any good.

One thing i don't like (not to thread hijack) but its the actually height of the door panel. It's so low that when my leg is not using the dead pedal it hides the switches and what not on the door.

lol, atleast OP has been a good sport regarding the responses.

Just for reference I am 5'9", 150 lbs. and usually like to cram my seat closer to the steering wheel out of personal preference (still have atleast 2.5 ft from my torso to the steering wheel. If I rest my knee on the door and have my foot off the dead pedal I still maintain perfect view of the door switches and everything else, so maybe it also depends on how far you move your seat away/towards the wheel.

I too hate this issue but I am training to get used to it. Was bad design to place so low.
