The issue isn't that they spend money on lobbyists. It's that they spend the money they demand from the workers on lobbyists. If I work for a company and they use their money to buy influence, that's their business (it's their money). But when a union demands money from me in order to work and then turns around and uses that money for political purposes to support candidates or causes that I don't agree with, that's wrong. Money taken from a member by the union to use for political purposes should be voluntary.

Your unemplyment is low, because hardly anyone lives in Iowa, much less Des Moine, Iowa.

I'm from the Tampa area, we've got more people in our Metro area than you have in your own darn state. I bet we've got more unemployed in our Metro area than there are citizens in ALL of Des Moine "Metro".

First of all, until they found oil/gas in the Dakota's, KS and NE; they were about to run out of people.

Second of all, I was once in Davenport, Iowa for three days. Though I tought that the place was nice, and so was the people, there is NO WAY IN HADES I'd move to Iowa, and guess what your population trends show that I'm far from the only one who thinks that way.

That I'll have to agree. But union members should DEMAND such things, heck don't they vote for all kinds of shit?

Funny, Tampa only has 346,000 and Des Moines is 205,000. Hmmm, not exactly more than my state. You can keep thinking that way, but when we have some of the lowest unemployment in the US I'll gladly stay here.

Read this and maybe you will get the Idea about Des Moines.

what do you think that money is spent on with lobbyist's? It's to get things that benefit you thru Washington. Thats how the world works here in this country.

Of course, I want to read about Des Moine. That is why EVERY week I'm here in Denver, I get to meet an Iowa State grad. Withouth a fault. Mmm, I wonder why that is!

"The Census Bureau currently estimates the population for the CMSA at 4,228,855 as of 2010 during consolidation.[3] as of July 1, 2008, making it the second most populous metropolitan area in Florida and fourth in the Southeast"

I get it, i get it, you don't like high paying jobs. But back to the point, I live in a right to work state and My city is #2 on the list for High paying jobs and # 1 for a place to raise a family. We are a town with few Unions. Apparently we are doing something right.

I should still have the option. If I believe what they're doing helps, I'll donate it. But if I feel it hurts, I would like the option to not donate. That's called free speech and that's how it's supposed to work in this country.

    I think he was saying,
. Then I learned about the realities of life, and they have VERY little to do with education, and all to do with greed and who gets first to the table.

How much U wanna bet I earn more than you do? But more than that, I live in a place that doesn't have to watch corn grow, for entertainment.

The only thing y'all are doing right is that your weather patterns keep your population small. That is why L.A. Metro, Phoenix Metro, Tampa Metro, Orlando Metro, Miami Metro and Atlanta Metro populations have exploded whereas the Midwest is loosing seats in congress. Look it up, you obviously do not believe me.

Toyota not only eliminated the risk associated with a unionized plant, but also reduced their exposure to the taxes, regulations, and other random crap that goes along with doing business in California. Tesla was interested in the property and it made sense strategically for Toyota to eliminate their only union plant.

In Texas they were able to hire employees who could live well on what they paid them due to the low cost of living (happy employees). Texas, the largest truck market in the U.S., was a perfect fit for a plant that builds trucks. This was a win-win situation for Toyota and for their employees.

I was a union member for 26 yrs. I retired at age 57 and i have been and will get a check for $3400.00 ever month for the rest of my life! With my teamster retirement and social security i have more money comeing in ever month than i had when i was working.
The union has been a very good thing for me.

If you do not want to join the union then don't expect a retirement check ever mo. when you retire.
I know people that say i don't need a union! But they are old as i am and still working 10 or 12 hrs a day!
