its called Fred lake, it's in behind lac la juene. Its actually a really fun 4x4 trail getting into it. I dont have the a picture on hand but it was a size 10 olive or grey bodied brown deer hair winged adult sedge, right tight to the weeds. Some days you cant find the hot spot for chironies.

Well I've got a trip to the South Holston planned for next weekend. Its basically BWO's and midges from everything I gather, so I've tied up quite a few hares ears and PT's #16's and #18's and some #20 brassies and blood midges. Nothing fancy at all.

I'm about to try a few salmon flies just for the hell of it. Night shift can get awfully boring. I tied about 5 dozen of the above in 2 nights last weekend.

I was thinking 12 people 2 flies... Anything.. Just your favorite flies to tie, nothing excluded. It'd be neat to get some stuff from across the country. Size 20 midges to some 2/0 salty stuff.

    Drew,

I got the below item off of the WA FF site. Good instructions on how to run a swap. Your idea so run with it. Suggest starting a new thread called Fly Swap. 12 members with 1 doz each of their fav pattern or whatever. I'm in for a doz CDC Prince Nymphs. 30 days should be long enough for people to get them tied and in to you. Just trying to help out and get this going. Thoughts?

Quick overview of what a fly swap is.

Fly swaps are an opportunity for tiers to exchange flies, it's usually done on a 1 fly for 1 fly basis. A member will post a thread about a swap with general guidelines including number of tiers and a deadline for when flies need to be in, the original poster is usually called the swapmeister. Once the deadline is set, other members post about their desire to participate and the swapmeister will add them to the list.

Once you are part of a swap you need to tie your flies then mail them to the swapmeister with a couple dollars for return postage, or a self addressed and stamped package, dont stiff the swapmeister. When the swapmesiter recieves all the flies he splits them up so that everyone gets eachothers flies and then sends them off to the participants. As an example, you send in 12 of the same pattern, and if all goes right you should recieve 12 different flies from the other swap participants.

When you mail your flies try to use some sort of crush resistant packaging, a small box, altoids tin, or something along those lines will work great, your box should be re-used by the swapmeister to return your flies so don't send them in just an envelope.

Flies should be toe-tagged with the name of your pattern and your WAFF board screen name so we know who tied what. A toe tag is usually just a small strip of paper that you stick on to each fly over the barb so it wont fall off, if you tie with barbless hooks then tie a small piece of mono on to your fly and tape it to the paper rather then having it slip off the barbless hook.

Anyone can be a swapmeister, but if you choose to run a swap, do it responsibly and keep all the members informed of the status of the swap, ie.. post when you get flies, post a weekly reminder of when the deadline is, and post when you send flies out. Don't be a flake.

Please PM me if you feel I've missed something and would like to add to this post.

Fished North East Tennessee this weekend. The famous tailwaters were being generated and with the lack of a drift boat, fishing those was out of the question. So we took to the mountains. I accomplished my goal for the trip about 45 minutes into the first day. I caught a wild brown on a fly i tied myself, I feel like i tricked mother nature.

Anyway, with the regular luck of my fishing buddy and myself, his net had a damn hole in it and when he went to land the fish it went through the hole and got off.

Funny how an old aquarium fish can be one of the hardest fighting fish I have ever caught on my 4 wt. I believe this is a Cichlid, which I caught in an apartment complex's pond in Ft. Myers, Fl. Weird, the things you catch when you're least expecting. I was just kind off messing around showing my buddy how to fly fish, and this came up and KILLLLEEDDDD my little dry fly.

Edit: And yes, I know the fish is on the ground, it is not dead, but I did not have my foreceps or pliers with me, and he was being a little pisser. I'm usually an advocate of not hurting the fish in any way, so please don't get on my case about it.
