nerf bars;3" toytec lift 885 coils and Ol Man Emmu shocks in the front add aleaf in the rear
Hello, I just recently did a 3" lift with no coils and shocks in the front and a add a leaf in the back, upgrade my rims and tires from 16x8 245/75/16's to 17x9 285/70/17. I have added a K&N air filter but no other mods other then NAVI and stereo. My gay mileage went from 345-365 a tank to 225-235 a tank. My truck is a base model double cab 4x4 V6 4.0 liter. I have been taking it super easy on the gas pedal when taking off and costing to a stop. Anything i can do to help the gas mileage?

Nothing is going to help you from getting better mileage. Since that you are already are driving with an egg under your foot that's all that you can do. Or, you can return everything back to stock or buy a Prius as a second vehicle.

Never give the taco back!! just work more to pay for more gas. What about getting rid of the stock exhaust would that help any?

I've seen some people say they get better mileage driving normally, and not using the "egg under the pedal" methodology. Across two tanks I haven't noticed a difference.

I highly doubt that getting an aftermarket exhaust is going to do anything. These trucks are tuned as much as they can go to when it comes to fuel economy.

When you lift your truck your fuel mileage goes down, plain and simple.

Ditto I drove very conservatively when I first got the truck. After a while I went back to my old habits and was braking later and accelerating harder. I've been tracking the whole time with Fuelly.com and haven't seen a diff. either.

Do not forget to take into account that the larger tires will make the odometer show fewer miles for the same amount of actual driven miles. This makes the gas mileage appear worse than it really is.

Regearing should help, but that's expensive. If it drives okay, just ease up on the gas, that's all you can do.

Is it worth it? I think the solution should be simpler. Which is more important? Mileage, or lift?

Mine is stock still, and I've rarely sniffed over 320 on a tank.

no lie i tinted my front windows a month ago, all the neighbors knew about it along with my sis, the wife never noticed. She even drove the day after i tinted the windows, i finally told her the day i put the lift on. She said she would of never noticed so it might just work!

clean your maf, k&n air filters get shit all over the maf. im not an anti-k&n troll like some on here, i just have one on my truck and then saw how dirty my maf got 5k miles later. (factory oiled too, i havent even cleaned/oiled it myself yet). also make sure you're adjusting your mileage traveled to compensate for the increased circumference of the tire, and tire weight could be a big factor if youre running D or E range 285s
