should of removed the nut all together then just beat it out

    this

why do you even need the nut? I'm confused...

I just removed the nut from mine and whacked it out. The new TRE has a new nut and hardware.

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
Well in my defense I was beating the UCA out of the spindle... so I didn't want to dick up those threads. But if changing TRE's you could just remove it and beat it. I didn't want to change UCA's...

Mah man! You get a cookie.

If I didn't have the nut on there I would have most certainly fubared the threads on the part I am not replacing. Again, not replacing outer TRE, only replacing lower ball joint.

1st gen. Outer TRE is attached to the hunk of metal (whatever it's called) that the lower ball joint is pressed into. Replacement lower ball joint is the whole thing. So I need to detach the outer TRE, remove four bolts attaching ball joint to spindle, and pop the ball joint out of the LCA.

    Silly first gens :D

Shit if your replacing the BJ's might as well replace the TRE right? I mean it's another $40 in parts and if they are the stock ones yours are probably beat anyway.

That's why I replaced my TRE's....well that and I like the Moog servicable ones. Already had front end apart so figured why not it's so easy on a second gen.

I actually replaced the inner TRE on this side since it failed inspection. The ball joints they said were close, and would probably fail next year so I figure I would do them as well. Looking at the outer TRE the boot on it doesn't look great, so yeah, probably should have done them too and just kept all the originals as spares. Oh well, the outer TRE isn't hard to get to so that should be easy down the line.

Here you go Boyd. Old and new lower ball joints and the outer TRE. No pressing out ball joints. :D
