My thoughts are with those affected. Such a terrible, disgusting crime.

It's funny how much I find myself disagreeing with you and agreeing with you at the same time. Kids who exhibit violent behavior do not need to be "locked up", a simple thing called good parenting or therapy, possibly with medication, can work wonders. Lack of religion made me chuckle. Religion has never been the cause of any violence. A sick individual is sick whether or not they're Christian, Muslim, Athiest, Hindu or Pastafarian.

Rather than place blame on video games and someone not having the same beliefs as yourself, let's focus on the real issue. This guy was clearly mentally ill, no adult or anyone with the ability to think logical would do something like this. Without knowing all the specifis on the shooter, I'm sure there where warning signs that something was wrong, and nobody noticed.

Legality of the weapons wouldn't matter, someone whose about to go on murderous rampage isn't concerned with weapon laws. They'll get weapons one way or another.

I think exploring the cause would be a worthy endevour , however it doesn't seem like there is much will to do so

People without mental health issues are perfectly capable of commiting horrendous actions as well. Look at the Nazis. Most of them were productive members of society then all of a sudden....Something caused this dbag to "switch" it could have been mental health issues, society, who knows. But OZ brings up a good question. Why in the US does this happen so often? I think Switzerland every citizen is armed, so access shouldn't be an issue. Education, society?????

That was sarcasm on locking them up, its as crazy as taking away guns. It has to do with rights. Take away some rights to protect others is not the answer.

Isnt "You guys" kind of a generalization? Compared to the rest of the world, there are more guns in the US than anywhere else in the world. Thats like saying why are there more plane crashes in the US than anywhere else. Flying is still the safest form of travel. If you took all the guns and created a ratio of # of guns to # of these types of incidents, that percentage would be pretty damn small. And before anyone says, what about all the other shooting crimes, they get there guns illegally so thats a mute argument.
I dont have the answer, you sound like a shrink dude. Asking the same question 5 different ways, the answer is still the same, I dont know.

What I do know is the cure is not going to be gun control. Crazies are going to be crazy, look at China today, they dont allow guns, so the guy figured out a different way.

Canada , for example has roughly 1/3 the amount of guns per capita as the US , but almost no incidence of this type of tragedy

And besides you already said amount of guns and access to them was not a factor

Your right, I did, I also said that its a cultural, mental health issue. Which I truly believe. Thats the issue that we need to look at. OZ, I've been trying to tell you I dont have the answer, just opinions. dont think I am saying I have the answers becuase I dont. I just have opinions and thoughts on the matter.

I think its silly when people try to point the finger when things like this happen. From a bias physician standpoint, I certainly don't think you can point the finger to doctors or drug companies who devote their lives to helping and researching. The truth is that most patients on these meds do in fact live healthier, more functional lives. There are subjective tests in the diagnosis of these diseases. But the field of psych itself if very subjective. Its easy to say that these medication side effects cause people to do things like this, while we forget the diagnosis the patient already has. Key example here...attorney adds that attack pharmaceuticals such as bisphosphonate production ie- boniva for the cause of fractures...because certainly the cause of the fracture could not be becasue of the osteoporosis itself. Just an example. Bottom line, everyone is eager to point the finger when major tragedies happen. I personally believe that evil will be around us sometimes no matter what we do. And we also can't diagnose and treat all the sick people in the world.

    Too many to list now.
As a "man of the cloth" so to speak, your statement that religion has never caused violence is refutable. I think the point you are trying to make is that PEOPLE are corrupt and doing things in the name of religion. I get that, but man, you start presenting ideas as "the only truth" you're going to make some people upset. And not at all saying that I don't believe that, I do believe there is only one truth, and that makes people angry. Just watch :)

I think it has to do with society itself. Canada isnt perfect, but we have tons of programs in place that help people when theyre in need. I also think that the economy and healthcare have something to do with it too.
